  • Not the cheapest, but the cheapaer ones are just should not be.
Style: P7
After trying several under $200 projectors and being greatly disappointed with the performance of these, I have went for this one, AAXA P7 Mini Projector. And I immediately decided that I will keep this one. The size is pretty small. The picture where it sits on a hand, is probably of a hand of the 7' tall basketball player. That said, the projector still pretty small (trust not the picture, but the dimensions mentioned). The picture quality is pretty good and worth the $349. It is as sharp edge to edge as it can be. Note that this is a projector, and the picture will not be as sharp as on an LCD monitor, this applies to any projector even if it is several thousands of dollars (I am working in Pro AV and have installed anything from $1000 to $30000+). So the sharpness or focus-ability of the image is quite good. It is important to note that the optimal focus is attained when NOT using the keystone feature. So do all you can to use as little keystone as possible, better not at all. If you use keystone, the image will get blurrier near the top or bottom or both. Also do not just project on a wall, use a projection screen. Even a cheap screen is already better than a textured wall. The noise of the projector is pretty loud, but it has to be in a projector that small that uses the LED lights. If you want a quieter projector try laser ones, but that will be a much larger package and a much more expensive one. For a portable LED projector, this is not bad. Of course, if you use the "Bright" mode, the fan will be noisier than even I find acceptable. On a "normal" setting the noise is just about bearable. I had to tweak the color temperature setting and the image settings to get the wanted hue, out of the box it was a bit into the blue for me, but this is subjective. Sound quality of the audio in the projector is what you'd expect from the size maybe even better. It is certainly louder than I expected... But keep in mind, these are 1" or so speakers in there, expecting HiFi is pretty ridiculous, but the audio as good as from a majority of inexpensive blue-tooth speakers of that size. The brightness of the image on "normal" is on par with any of the $99 projectors maybe a bit brighter, but the image uniformity, color, and sharpness are better beyond comparing. The $99 even $199 projectors are complete garbage comparing to this one. Basically anything with mechanical keystone adjustment is a garbage... I have tried several. Also note that this one is DLP which has more chance to produce a good quality image than LCD with a random light source such as found in these projectors and DLP costs extra. The tripod is a throw in, but it is adequate to be used with a small camera or your smart phone (bracket needed). For the projector, it is quite dreadful. Remote control is meh... All in all, this is the same kind of package that you'd get for $99 from elsewhere at Amazon in a plethora of cheap projectors, but this one actually produces a picture that is fairly crisp and has a good color. I guess it is fair to pay $250 extra for the DLP picture quality and native 1920x1080 resolution. Oh yeah, this also has a battery that lasts about 2 hours on normal brightness. Not that I use this feature, but it is kind of cool to take it camping and have a movie night (note that you will need a power inverter to power this up or at least charge for a next night movie). $349 is quite a bit of money, but you want that 1080p resolution for games and even movies and you get the DLP. And it is pretty small. I think it is priced just about right. If this was $399, I would have not bought it. But if it was $299, I would have called it a steal. ... show more

  • AAXA P7+ is an OK choice for travel, but with limitations.
Style: P7+ (w/ WiFi & Smart Features)
I have mixed feelings about this purchase for a travel projector, but I haven’t found anything better in a comperable size, so I’ll keep it until something better comes along. I bought the AAXA P7+ for watching downloaded movies and streaming shows in places that don’t allow connecting a device by HDMI port to a TV, such as on a cruise ship and in a few hotels.. Positives: OK picture up to 55” in low light, but only when using the brightest setting. ECO mode won’t cut it. Not at all comparable to a traditional flat screen TV. Relatively easy to set up. Very compact size. Negatiaves: The picture constantly pulses, slowly, back and forth between a blue/green and red shift. Irritating but not fatal. It seems to have a hard time locking in the video and is constantly hunting for the best signal. The remote has to be held within a couple of feet away and pointed directly at the projector in order to work. I gave up trying to pair the projector to a Bluetooth speaker for sound because I was never able to get the lips to sync, even with the use of the projector’s sound sync controls. Instead, I paired the Bluetooth speaker with my source, such as my tablet, phone, or streaming stick. Then the sound is fine. The internal sound is tinny, like an old transistor radio. I really didn’t expect more because the physics would be impossible. No carrying case. So I bought a 4x5x3 cardboard box at a local shipping store and the projector fits well. However, the power cord still has to be carried separately. No option for powering by USB A or C, so I had to use the included power cord. It’s not standard voltage output so I always have to bring it along. So overall, it’s does the job just OK, but not as good as I had hoped, and not as well as gushed in the product description. ... show more

  • Wrong OS 9.0 versus 10.0 per advertisement
Style: P7+ (w/ WiFi & Smart Features)
Loved the projector. Nice and compact slightly bigger than previous models but negligible. Decided to get the newest version P700+ with android 10.0. $50 difference from P400+ but as you can see by the picture wrong OS. Contacted the company and they claimed 9.0 is more stable than 10.0 and “were updating their product description” maybe they will or maybe they won’t either way I want what I pay for. ... show more
