  • Product Review: Wicked Cushions Headphone Replacements for Astro a50X Headphones
Color: Black
Overview I recently purchased a brand new headset, the Astro a50X, which was quite expensive. I was initially torn between this model and the SteelSeries Nova Pro Wireless, but the Astro a50X won me over due to its great mic, which helps eliminate clutter on my desk. However, I quickly discovered that the stock headphone covers were uncomfortable to the point where I almost considered returning the headset. The Problem The stock headphone covers on the Astro a50X were not up to par. They caused significant discomfort, which was disappointing given the high price of the headset. This discomfort almost led me to return the headset, despite its other excellent features. The Solution Fortunately, I remembered that nearly every reviewer mentioned Wicked Cushions as a great alternative. I decided to give them a try and ordered a set from Amazon a few days ago. The results were nothing short of impressive. Performance and Comfort The Wicked Cushions headphone replacements have made a world of difference. The improvement in both sound quality and comfort is like night and day. These cushions should honestly come standard with every Astro a50X purchase. The enhanced comfort has made long listening sessions much more enjoyable, and the sound quality has noticeably improved. Suggestions for Improvement While I am thoroughly impressed with the current product, I believe there is room for expansion. It would be fantastic to see more color options, especially in the SteelSeries color variants, to offer even more customization for users. Conclusion In summary, the Wicked Cushions headphone replacements are a must-have for Astro a50X owners. They offer a significant upgrade in comfort and sound quality for a very reasonable investment. If you own an Astro a50X or are considering purchasing one, I highly recommend getting a pair of Wicked Cushions to enhance your experience. ... show more

  • Sound is not that bad, comfort is great for bigger ears
Color: Black Camo
During my research into these headsets I saw a lot of people complaining that these earmuff replacements ruined the sound and did nothing to change the cooling effect. I still ordered them because as far as I can tell these are the only earmuffs for the A50's that are slightly larger than the base earmuffs. However, when I first opened them I immediately tested the sound quality. I will admit that the bass did sound more muffled than with the retail, but after some fiddling with the EQ there was little to no difference. Now the retail earmuffs did not feel that warm on my head for the week or so that I used them daily, not sure why people are complaining that they get sweaty. But so far I have noticed a small difference in temp, if only a little cooler overall. Now the firmness of the wicked cushions out of the box is definitely stiffer than retail, but after some time they will be worn in and they feel fine. ... show more

  • Better than OEM?
Color: Black
So a few notable things I've found is yes it changes the sound of the headset. Personally I like OEM sound, but perhaps I'm just use to it or need to change my EQ. Also the cooling gel is very nice and feels great. The quality is top notch. The isolation is very very good, I couldn't even hear someone knocking on my room door until they started pounding on it 🤣 Overall I'd say that the cushions are all around worth it, and have a very easy install. Plus you'd have 2 sets after purchasing these (oem and wc). The biggest issue is the sound alterations. (Just change EQ) solid 8/10 ... show more

  • Excellent!
Color: Red Camo
I really like these a lot. Personally I like the fabric on these a lot better than the stock ear cups. The fabric covering that touches your head is smooth and soft like a jersey material as opposed to the kinda itchy material used on the stock ones. While these are very cool when you first put them on, I’m not really sure how much cooler they are after a few hours of gaming. Honestly I feel like the other ones maintain a lower temperature because of their breathability being filled with what I assume is an open cell foam instead of a gel like these. I didn’t buy these for their cooling effect though, I bought them because I wanted a different material other than the fuzzy somewhat itchy material they came with, and hopefully some added sound quality. These met both those needs. Keep in mind that since these are a different material, you may want to play with the EQ adjustments until you find the sound that suits you. Their website has a video that has some settings you can either download or just take a screenshot of and adjust your settings from the Astro app or the Dolby atmos app. Personally I think the sound quality improved after making a few adjustments. Better bass for sure. This headset has excellent sound to begin with though and with these ear cups it just takes them right over the peak of excellence. I really wish they made the replacement headband cushion to match with a fix to the notorious a50 gen 4 headband pad popping out that most of y’all are plagued with incuding myself. Overall the design is great and I wouldn’t mind picking up a few more pairs to swap them out every once in a while for a different look. The only downside was the shipping time. They took quite awhile to arrive but having ordered them right after Christmas that’s more or less to be expected. If you’re looking for a nice set of pads for your a50 then look no further because these are probably the nicest ones available. You won’t regret your purchase. ... show more

  • Isolating and cooling but not breathable.
Color: Black
For me these cups sealed better against my head (round oval) than stock and thus gave me better bass but at the cost of being able to hear the outside world or myself without turning on sidetone. The cooling I would say works in a similar sensation that slightly damp normal pads would work. At first they feel like they are pulling away heat but then once they saturate with heat they just begin to feel stuffy and unpleasant. If you take them off and let them cool down again they don't feel actively damp or humid like they actually retained moisture but when warm my ears feel unpleasant with how little these pads breath. ... show more
