  • This makes my dog happy!
I have a Goldendoodle and I feed her salmon food and toppers. These really look great! They are nice size pieces with skin on and my girl loves them! Salmon is super good for dogs and these are very high quality. Sometimes I break the pieces up and make smaller bites but she does get either way.

  • This is food… add a little water and you have fresh salmon/chicken.
I keep a few bags of this on hand for travel with my lab. We camp and beach and forest and rather than carrying fresh/cooked meat with me, I carry this and use it for about 4-5 meals with some raw veggies and rice/bread/potato. I pour some water over it and the salmon swells and softens and looks even better than sushi and my dog loves it! Same with the chicken. Good stuff! Thanks. ... show more

  • Pricey, but a quality treat
My dog is on a salmon-based diet. I like these because they are pure - no additives or fillers. Other reviews are correct - there are small pieces in the bags and some crumbs or "dust". By its very nature, this product is fragile. However, there are plenty of larger pieces to satisfy. I offer 2 or 3 small pieces or a single larger piece as a reward. The very large pieces are easily sliced with a razor blade to make more uniformly sized treats. Always start by peeling the skin off. I don't try to cut through the skins and don't feed them to my dog. Most of them easily peel away from the meat with a fingernail. I've never found any bones but if I ever do, I'd simply not offer those. I'd rate 5 stars instead of 4 if they weren't so pricey, but so far they have been quality, consistent treats that are healthy for my dog. ... show more

  • Finally: A full, UNcrushed bag of CHUNKS of wild-caught freeze-dried salmon!
FINALLY!! Finally I found a bag of freeze-dried wild caught Alaskan Salmon treats for my kitty that did not contain more than 50 percent .... scraps! I mean chunks of skin, bone, pieces of ROT, connective tissue ... you name it. I mean, really, some pieces will have some Brown spots; some will be scarce meat-wise. It is unavoidable, I believe, after trying many brands. But overall, this company delivers a full bags of nice orange salmon chunks. I think that the skin still attached retains that color. I do believe that the skin, then, retains nutrients. I am half way thru the bag and I still am pulling out quality pieces of salmon. I like to cut the skin off (a little tough for my kitty to swallow) and choose the best pieces to hydrate in some warm water. He loves them. (IF the water is too hot, I discovered it makes the salmon a little bit "rubbery" in texture.) This company lives up to its claims, and the price is hard on me, but so far, after receiving so many disappointing brands of freeze-dried salmon that did not meet my expectations, the money is worth it. As far as my kitty's health is concerned, I "pay now or pay later." Meaning, investing in good food for him now, might just save me a ton in vet $bills, and most importantly, will save him from illness and suffering. M6 only concern was the odor I picked up when I opened the package. There was less of a fishy smell, and perhaps, more of a ... packaging odor? Anyone? And AMAZON!!! PLEASE SHIP FREEZE-DRIED PRODUCTS LIKE THESE IN BOXES WITH APPROPRIATE INSULATION! Over the years so many of my kitty's freeze-dried treats and meals arrive PULVERIZED! Bags are mostly full of crushed pieces that crumbled into powder. I am worried whenever I receive one of these fragile products in nothing but a padded ENVELOPE - and sometimes an envelope with zero padding!! Does this problem begin with the manufacturer's shipping procedures or with Amazon's distribution choices? Or both? Would be awesome if this quality-control issue was remedied. Refunds would decrease too, on the manufacturer and distributors' side of the equation. A little more care in shipping translates to a "WIN-WIN for EVERYONE! ... show more

  • Tough with skin
I have purchased a few different brands in the past. This one the pieces were extra dry and I had the peal the skin off to get my cats to eat. It seemed OVER freeze dried. Back to a better product and brand even if it costs a bit more

  • Suggestion
I like the product because my dog likes it however, she’s a small dog and some of the pieces are a bit large and they’re almost impossible to break into a small size piece so I would just suggest maybe some of the pieces being smaller

  • Skin Way Too Tough
The salmon itself is good but most pieces have incredibly tough skin that my small dog cannot chew - she has great teeth but the skin is just way too firm. I accidentally just ordered this again when I meant to order another superior salmon treat but returns are not permitted for this product. For anyone else stuck with these treats I recommend cutting up the skin to prevent your pet from choking. ... show more
