  • Tested with Retron 2 HD and SNES, both work great.
I actually used this with a Gbros adapter and a SNES Classic controller to have a pseudo-wireless SNES controller. Worked great on both official and clone hardware, so yeah, a bit expensive for my taste but it definitely gets the job done. I've also had experience using this with a SN30 Pro controller. Works good for that too! ... show more

  • Great addition to any retro gaming setup
The SNES Retro Receiver does one thing and it does it well. I've been playing all my old SNES games with my SF30 Pro and having a grand old time. No trouble pairing, and no noticeable latency. Works great with my Dual Shock 4 as well. Makes me wish I could plug a Retro Receiver into my PS2 - think about it, 8Bitdo! Recent firmware versions seem to have improved Bluetooth connectivity. Previously I had to be extremely careful about where I was holding my controller, and random moments of stuck input just ruined my chances of playing 2D platformers with any precision. Now, I would confidently call this platformer-ready. I just can't hold my controller too close to my PC while paired with the 8bitdo dongle, that still gives me trouble every time. It's a compromise I can live with though. If you have one of these and you haven't updated the firmware on it lately, or ever, get to 8bitdo.com and download the latest version. ... show more

  • If you play Super Nintendo...GET THIS NOW!
This product is absolutely amazing. Benefits: WIRELESS (!!!!!) Super Nintendo Play My setup with this was: SNES mini (SNS 101), 8bitdo SNES bluetooth adapter, Wiimote with Wii Classic Controller. I recently played Battletoads in Battlemanics on my Super NES. For those not familiar, this is a game that is HEAVILY reliant on reaction and twitch movements. I didn't experience any noticeable lag playing on an HDTV using this setup wirelessly and was able to fully enjoy a gaming experience equivalent to that of a wired controller. Of note: I hooked it to my SNES and began playing with this right out of the box. I didn't need to go online to update the firmware, etc. I have not yet tried to hook up two of these for two-player games. I have read that sometimes the connection between players 1 & 2 can get mixed, but I haven't experienced this first hand. This was the first third-party controller peripheral I've ever purchased for my Super Nintendo, and I have to say I am highly impressed. I would highly recommend this product and will be purchasing other 8bitdo products with confidence. ... show more

  • Amazing device!
This thing works perfectly right out of the box with Nintendo wii/wii u controllers. I plugged it into my SNES and Super Retro Trio, pressed the synch button on it and my Wii controller and bang, I was playing Nintendo games with the classic controller. I also used it via USB to hook Wii controllers up to my ps3, which was cool. Lately I've had it plugged into my Retropie to use a wireless USB controller and it works great. The only hitch I've seen is that the Wii remote's synch button needs to be pressed every time you fire up the console to get it to connect, but only the wiimote. Other than that, you can plug whatever controller into wiimotes like the classic or the smash bros style ones and play games with those. Just keep in mind that you can't reprogram the buttons. They are typically laid out in NES fashion, so it's not a big deal. ... show more

  • Works with Wii U Pro Controller, but slight lag
This works with the with the Wii U pro controller and pairs very easily. I tried syncing it with the PS5 controller and it didn't work. It shows the PS5 controller in the marketing images, but it doesn't list it in the compatibility list, so I'm not sure if it is supposed to work or not or if some firmware update is needed. It did not come with instructions, but for the most part things are self explanatory. However, having used the PS1/2 bluetooth adapter, which did require usb power, THIS DOES NOT require usb power. The SNES port itself has a small amount of power supplying it. I had hooked this up with usb cable thinking it needed some additional power and that actually provided backwards to the SNES itself and the system started working even with the power switch on the console in the off position. Whoops. Looks like the no hard came to the SNES, but lesson learned. It works great, but there does seems to be a small amount of lag which can add some additional challenge to platformers that require precising timing. It's not too bad and I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the controller I'm using, but it is worth mentioning. ... show more

  • Enhanced SNES gaming experience
I am very happy with the 8bitdo SNES adapter. I was able to quickly pair it with my 8Bitdo NES30 Pro and it works very well. I have not noticed any input lag. It enhances my SNES gaming experience as I can sit more comfortably on a couch that is further away from the TV.
