  • Works exactly as expected
Edition: Long
Hulu and Paramount+ are terrible on the NVIDIA Shield, and many movies or shows won't play properly. I decided to just use my XBOX Series X to watch things that don't work on the NVIDIA device. I bought this control after getting tired of using the XBOX controller to control the applications. The remote doesn't need to be paired or anything, so it immediately works, and there is no issue with any functions. I definitely recommend it. ... show more

  • Awesome remote - eats through batteries (READ for solution)
Edition: Long
So I honestly love this remote. The shake awake backlight works well. The buttons are placed logically & similar to "legacy" remotes. Not too big and not too small. No rubberized plastic to become tacky after usage! But... This mofo eats up batteries! Now I believe the problem may be unique to people who have a similar housing. The remote "wakes" very often simply due to me walking by. Granted, I have a raised house with wooden floors so it may be unique to may. Still, once my quality alkaline batteries get low, the remote will randomly respond or not. To be fair, my previous Nyko remote ate through batteries also but at a slightly slower rate. I've found the solution! Lipo AAA bateries which are individually charged via USB-C. These batts hold the full voltage until depletion so I honestly get a much longer time before they need "replacing" (charging) but when they are empty, they go from working normally to just not working, per design. So would I buy it again? ABSOLUTELY! The Lipo AAA batts have opened my eyes to particular low/mid drain devices such as this remote and small LED flashlights (particulary my collection of OLIGHT i5t/i3t's) Pro's: Remote is durable. No gummy rubber to become sticky or wear the buttons off. Perfect sized. Shake awake backlight is super sensitive. Con's: Battery door comes off a bit easy Annoying when using normal batteries. Shake awake backlight is super sensitive. Get the remote, and then get the Lipo battries for a wonderful experience. ... show more

  • Great, but number buttons are iffy
Edition: Long
UPDATE: About 2 weeks after the review below, all of the number buttons started intermittently working again. After checking the batteries, I noticed some residue around one of the coils. After blowing it away, the number buttons have been consistently working again. I’m wondering if the original batteries that came with the remote were the problem causing the damage. Updating to 4 stars - I will update to 5 if this keeps working a few more months, but I’ll suggest you chuck the included batteries & use some better ones. I REALLY wanted to love this remote, and for the first two weeks I did. It’s sturdy, it takes almost nothing to “wake” it up to get the buttons to glow, and the back cover stays on very well, unlike the previous remote I had where just gripping it to change the volume could cause the cover to slide off. Plus, there was ZERO setting it up - straight out of the box, it turned on the x-box and controlled my over 10-year-old Samsung TV, no set-up required. I actually squealed. I wish the “X” home button lit up, but that was my only con initially. After 2 weeks, it stopped working entirely, so I replaced the batteries and it was totally fine. Gave it a pass as included batteries don’t usually last long and may be of dubious quality anyway. One week later, and now the number buttons 1 thru 7 no longer function, even after checking with new batteries. Numbers 8,9, & 0 are fine. And this is what leads me to the 2-star review - the only reason I wanted this particular style of remote is because of the number buttons. My house is 100% streaming with multiple accounts using primarily the X-box, so a dedicated remote for this is ideal - it can control the TV and the X-box, and unlike the X-box controllers, my movie won’t get FF by a cat jumping up vaguely near it. But I chose this remote in particular because I like the ease of simply using the number buttons for numbers instead of decoding into up/down/side etc buttons for numbers. Yeah it’s a small thing but it’s the reason I chose this particular remote over several others that didn’t have number keys. ... show more

  • Excellent accessory for my X/S
Edition: Long
I’m not sure what kind of review to write for a remote control so I’ll just say this… I bought the large remote for my Series X in the living room and it worked perfectly. I then bought the small remote for my Series S my the bedroom and it worked just as well. 5 stars for a simple product that meets all of my expectations. ... show more
