  • Works with MyQ Hub!!
I have a garage door opener that was not RF compatible with MyQ (Marantec Synergy), and I really wanted to get MyQ working, because this is the only software-based third-party garage door ecosystem supported natively in my Tesla. If this is you.... read on... This device WILL work with the MyQ hub, there's just a trick in how you do the "learning" process: Set it to "312" mode, which is DIP switch 1=OFF, 2=ON combination As others have said, when you press the Learn button on this receiver, it doesnt go for 30 sec, it's only 10 sec (for me it was actually more like 6 sec.) Don't worry about that; in the programming process, just quickly press the button again as soon as the light goes out, that will keep putting it right back in programming mode. On the MyQ app, choose Liftmaster as the motor type, and choose the "Purple button" option. Proceed to programming, press the Learn button on the receiver (and again press it immediately again each time the light goes off) Here's the trick: MyQ is "looking" to see that the cmd it sent actually moves the garage door, and it "knows" this by the door tilt sensor moving from vertical to horizontal. SO! take the MyQ door sensor off your door and keep it in your hand (this where it'd be helpful to have someone help you..) start the Learn process from MyQ, and as soon as you see the light flash on the receiver AND hear the relay click (relay click is the important piece!!) turn the door sensor face-down, mimmicking the position it would be in when your door goes from closed to open. Back on the MyQ app, it should now complete the Pairing process successfully. You can "next... next.. next" through the setup wizard, and when you tap the Open / Close button on the app, you'll hear the relay in your receiver click. You're all set! Now wire up the receiver to your garage door openers' contacts (the same ones that your physical "doorbell" door opener on the wall button are wired to normally), install the MyQ door position sensor on your door as you're supposed to, and you're all set! This receiver will work on ANY garage door that has a normal electrical doorbell button, basically every garage door opener ever made ever. The relay contacts are a N.O. (Normally open) circuit. Dead simple, and this can control up to 3 doors independently. Hope this helps someone; I spent a couple days sorting all this out and was happy I did, now that my car can use the MyQ integration! ... show more

  • Good for the price
Half the price of the 850lm lift master. But several limitations (I guess you get what you pay for). Was worth it for me. This is basically the radio receiver part of your garage door opener. Use cases could include 1. Your existing radio receiver broke, but the motor works so you don't want to replace the head unit 2. You're getting interference, and want to step up to rolling/different frequency 3. You want a higher security radio than your old receiver. My issue was #2. This wires into the button (n.o., triggers when switch closed) controller. You wire in parallel to the button, which is nice since you could wire right into the button panel and not have to climb up to the motor if desired (in my case I wired to the head unit, since the buttons are far from the door). Thereafter this is your radio receiver, and it triggers the motor using the button wiring. You could continue to also use the radio in your head unit as well, though not sure why you would. Pros -cheaper than lift master -three door controller (for garage doors, might be different relays for gates and such) -can choose the operating frequency (default is rolling multiple frequencies, highest security level, which is equivalent to a yellow learn button) Cons -i couldn't get it to work with my home link car remotes in max security mode. I even used a working remote to start the process. Not sure if it's my car, this unit, or the 850lm itself... But comments on the lift master version indicate at least some people got the brand version to work. -the learn button only works for 10 sec (supposed to be 30 sec). You better mount it in an easy location and run quick when programming new remotes. I only got my MyQ system to link for one door... And I'm pretty sure it's the too quick learn setting (myq wants to cycle through options rather than let you tell it which model receiver you have, slowing it's learning process down) - does not come with a power adapter. I'm not sure the brand version does either, so I guess that's a wash. On the plus side, it accepts a wide range of power (9-30v ac or DC). I DID need a power adapter (couldn't get power off my garage door head unit... Or at least not sure how). But I had an old power supply lying around that worked fine (there's a reasonably forgiving barrel connector that'll accept a wide range of jacks, and if that fails you could already cut and strip the wire to use screw terminal ports) Ultimately it worked for me, but I had to dumb it down to 1 frequency (easy enough with the dip switches). This has improved radio reception, but probably not as much as it should have. I'm happy enough, especially since I can't prove the brand version would've been better. But the 10 sec learn is annoying enough that it costs a star. Update: range dropped recently (? Alarm system? Video monitoring?). I extended the antenna as shown (it's just a single wire). Improved range, though not great (3ft to 15ft) ... show more
