Like all the 7Artisans lenses that I have purchased this well made 50mm full frame brings new dimensions to my photography. At f/2 the bokeh rivals the Sony 50mm f/1.2 GM and is much better than the new Sony f/1.4 G. Though not as sharp, I have to pixel peep to see the difference between the much more expensive Sony lenses and this 7Artisans lens. Not surprisingly, the sharpness degrades at f/1 and the bokeh displays cats eyes, though interestingly, the Sony lens f/1.2 cats eyes are more intrusive than the 7Artisans lens. Since there is no lens correction software for this lens, chromatic aberration can be severe. The manual focusing ring is a joy to use, while the heavy duty construction gives me confidence that the lens can take a beating. Even if you have a more expensive 50mm lens, the 7Artisans is well worth the price to try out! ... show more

This lense produces absolutely gorgeous image on an s5. it is also declicked making it ideal for video. except that focus direction is reversed and focus is very noisy due to friction material used

The chromatic aberration is very bad with this lens. but other than that, it produces pretty neat images in low light. I never used a manual lens other than the macro I have. It took some time to get used to it. But once accustomed, it produced great color.

Have you ever wanted to shoot using only candlelight? If yes, then this is an affordable lens that will provide that capability. Pros: Solid construction. Excellent low light performance. Pleasant bokeh. Cons: Lacks the sharpness of other lenses. The unit I have suffers from vignetting which can be improved with image editing software. Bottom-line: I use this lens for photo and video shooting in very low light situations with good results. I find it useful for portraits lit by candlelight.
