I use them for holding down hoses, keeping grass cloth from blowing away, and (my favorite) use them to anchor spreading flowers so they grow in the direction I prefer. Very handy. So study I can place them in the ground and stomp them in without bending!

After years of fighting everything on our few acres we’re declaring war and are now trying premium weed barriers covered in small rocks like the ones used in concrete and we’re buying it by the yard… 600-yards to date. We’ve even gone to raised bed gardening with stone walkways. Here in the high desert we have issues with rye grass, quack grass and hops. The rye can grow up to 3-feet tall. The quack grass is literally indestructible and was brought in by canal companies to prevent sod erosion along the canals and when cut short it can actually puncture tires. The hops grow about a foot per day and are vines that will wrap around everything and anything. We’re fed up with it all and are buying rock by the cubic yards and putting it down over a weed barrier. We have some areas near the house that are rather large that we’ve tried growing a little bit of everything in so we’ll have something nice to look at in the summer but whatever we do is soon overtaken with the unwanted stuff so it’s either take a risk with a line trimmer (and I’ve cut down more than I shouldn’t have over the years) or crawl around on our hands and knees with some clippers. The last thing we tried was a complete layer of heavy cardboard and then most of that was covered in some pretty large rocks and now we can’t even see the rocks. We’re also putting this in two of our garden areas and then putting raised beds on it made with 2x6 lumber with the walkways covered in stone. We do a lot of planting in bags and they will also sit on the stoned areas. To make sure all that stuff that’ll be creeping around under the weed barrier doesn’t find an easy exit we seem to be going through a lot of staples on the perimeters and wherever it overlaps. Buying them based on price now makes more sense since the first 100-box was gone in a few days. We tried a box of the 9-guage but that was just overkill and the 11-gauge seem to work fine so it’s again the best price for galvanized… and even galvanized rusts quickly but since I can’t see it I don’t care because I suspect the fabric will waste away before the stakes disintegrate. These we about 10-bucks so that’s a good price and since we have hard packed clay soil 6-inches is a good length. The price was about 17-bucks and on a per-spike basis that’s pretty good. These go fast and I don’t want to skimp on how many I use because a gap means a foothold for more weeds so I don’t feel bad by hammering a few extras in place. Mine came in a box and not a bag like in the product picture. I also made some raised beds out of 5-inch plastic edging and these are holding that in place. ... show more

For the money these are good, but they do bend fairly easily. Just know that you will have to discard a few that get too bent. I would purchase agin for the value.
