First, this thing is super light-weight, at least compared to my old LCD TV that takes 2 people and a winch to move. I’m not installing this on a wall, but given how light it is, I could with confidence. This TV runs much cooler than my old LCD, which was like running a fire pit behind it – nice to have a much cooler and lighter option. Assembly is pretty simple, it’s just 2 legs (4 screws). The directions for the 2 legs are just OK – they provide arrows, but don’t really say which way they should point… it’s forward, with the longer part of the leg toward the front of the TV. The ports on the back are HDMI, so if you have old style AV connectors that need plugged in, you will need an HDMI convertor… they provide 1, which is helpful - if you need more, they are relatively inexpensive. This is going to be true for most newer TV models. There is a “line in” and a “line out” jack(s) on the back of the TV, which I like. No Roku needed with this – everything is already built in…. plus, the remote has a voice control option the works with Google assistant. The remote seems intuitive enough and works well. It’s bigger than a Roku, but also more functional – I like it. The only thing missing is a headphone. BTW, you can still use your Roku with this unit if you prefer, just plug it into one of the HDMI ports… but you won’t need it. The screen goes almost all the way to the edge of the frame (what little frame there is) – really appealing design for watching a movie. The most important part may be the picture, and it is as advertised, clear and sharp. I’m not a TV expert, but it looks plenty good to me, especially at this price. The sound is OK, like any of these super thin TV’s, the speaker is in the back and it does ok reflecting sound, but if you are an audiophile or really want great sound, you will probably need an external solution. One little nitpick… once it’s in place, if you have to look at the back (from the side), you will not be able to see the name of the port because those are listed flat on the back panel, so I would take a picture before setting in place - it’s also in the user manual, so don’t lose that. Setup was pretty easy – you can use the Google Home app or do it manually. I tried using the app, but ended up having to do it manually because of the way Spectrum manages our network (don’t get me started on Spectrum). Manual setup wasn’t overly burdensome and once done, I had no issues. Accessing the various apps/providers is easy peasy. A well thought out design. I have an old Sony, a newer LG and now this… this is the least expensive of the 3, but also now my best TV. Great picture, decent sound, easy setup, lightweight, intuitive remote & interface, no Roku needed, etc. Hey Google! – nice TV. ... show more

    • A very good basic 4K TV
I was surprised how light this 55 inch tv is. I was able to lift it by myself. Connecting the legs was very simple. You just have to use a Phillips screwdriver and install 4 screws. Setup was reasonably quick and easy. I connected directly to my router via ethernet. During setup it detected it and was immediately connected to the internet. Several popular apps are pre-installed and so getting YouTube up and running was nothing more than logging in and it works just fine. Overall the picture quality is pretty decent but not great. It is clear, sharp, and bright when viewing 4K content. One thing I really appreciate in a good TV is when black is black. On this TV when you are viewing black there is always light shining through and so in never completely black. This reduces the contrast making it hard to make out clearly things that are in darker scenes. The sound quality that comes from the internal speakers is surprisingly good. I prefer more though and so I connected it to a surround sound receiver with a subwoofer and that sounds great. The receiver connection is via the HDMI 1 ARC. When I turn the TV on it automatically turns on the receiver as expected and the sound is routed through the receiver while cutting the sound going to the TV's internal speakers. However, when I turn the TV off it should also turn the receiver off but it doesn't. I think this TV would make a great second TV for a bedroom or office but I would want something better for my main entertainment room. ... show more

Amazingly simple setup with an intuitive menu system. The remote setup asked to press two buttons. Howeverthe on-screen remote image was completely different than the one supplied. Perhaps this was just a generic image Google puts on all of the TV's but worth noting. The initial configuration walks you through the proper steps and was not confusing to follow. In regards to picture quality, the colors are vibrant but overblown on the whites. I was able to bring down the default contrast to compensate and gain some of the fine details lost. Mounting only gives you two VESA screw locations There are two shallow holes in the plastic below the VESA screws but are not meant to hold any weight as the plastic is very flexible there. Keep this in mind if you're wanting to mount it as I'm not sure how you would mount with just two VESA mount screws at the top. The case is also a bit thick at the bottom so technically it could rest against the wall with just the top screws and be fine. I was happy that Google Play store could be launched (although it is hidden a bit by Google in the settings menu) I was able to load some of my favorite console emulators including MAME. The TV supports bluetooth pairing so I was able to connect my gamepad. The TV does have a plethora of display/video options to customize your settings, however, it lacks a bit on sound customization. The speaker range is better than most TV's (gets louder and speakers sound bigger) but really pushes the mid frequency to an almost uncomfortable amount when listening to music. I tried to adjust the settings but you only have treble and bass and no graphical EQ. It does offer a SPDIF output so you have the option to send that audio to other speakers if you so please.
