Honest real-world review here. Have had over a week at this point and wanted to offer my experience thus far. I like everything about this speaker. Bought mainly for boating so water resistance was one of the key requirements which initially led me to these in the Amazon search. I noticed the very positive reviews and figured it was worth a try. I just bought one initially and was impressed by the more rugged build quality and sound characteristics (enough bass and enough volume). They have a good weight to them… guess the combo of the woofer magnets and the battery pack makes these dense. Couple days went by and I ordered and received the second one. I have them paired to each other (for stereo) and hang them on the back of the boat using the port and starboard rear cleats. I have them connected via bluetooth to an iPhone. No issues pairing them together and no issues with Bluetooth range. Have used 4 times now (mostly outside), with the longest playtime being around 6-7 hours near full blast. Started with full charge and perhaps was somewhere between 33% and 50% when I put them back on the charger later that evening. Cannot say for sure since the battery level indicator is 3 bars. One was solid and the other two would blink when charging so it was somewhere above 33% remaining I am guessing. That is pretty impressive. The two EQ settings are fine (inside setting is less bass, and outside setting is more bass) but I used the iPhone built in EQ settings to find the combination that sounded best for the music we were playing. Cannot speak to longevity, but the construction of these speakers seem rather solid. Will see how the batteries hold up over time. ... show more

    • Pretty Good Budget Speaker
I ordered this speaker based on the strength of the reviews and this review is mainly for those thinking they're going to get a high-end speaker for a budget price. I also looked at the Bugani speaker which seemed to be similar to this one. Regarding the reviews I've seen, I cannot agree with many of the them. If your budget is around $76 and you prize wattage above all else, this is probably a good choice. I also saw many glowing Y-Tube reviews, one even claiming the D8 was a ....."JBL Xtreme Killer!!" My response is "Don't Believe it!!" My friend has a JBL Flip 4, a little speaker with a big sound. After listening to his Flip 4, I ordered it's big brother, the JBL Charge 4, also from Amazon. These JBL's are VERY good, even if not as loud as the D8 . OK, here's a spoiler. I think it may come down to this important factor: I believe JBL's DSP (Digital Signal Processing) is far superior to W-King's and offers the listener a much more dynamic, interesting and characterful listening experience. The vocals come forward with clarity and there is separation with the different instruments. With the W-King, everything seems to blend in, nothing really stands out and the overall experience is quite ordinary in comparison. Even the small Flip 4 sounds fantastic, especially for it's size. However, neither the Flip 4 nor the Charge 4 can compete with the W-King D8 for volume. Now I realize that the JBL products are substantially more expensive than W-King, but I'm making these points because many reviewers here and on Y-Tube are saying that the D8 sounds as good or better than JBL or some other high end speakers. I am busting that myth right now. The D8 seems to be a solid value for the price, but don't believe all the hype. From my point of view, the one area it excels in compared to more expensive speakers is in overall volume. You do get more volume for your money. That's a fact. And as I said at the outset of this review, if high volume and staying within a budget is your primary goal, then you will achieve it with the D8. It seems well made and I have nothing bad to say about it other than I was not impressed with the overall sound quality and listening experience. I was actually let down because my expectations had been set by all those five star reviews. After the let down, I called my friend to bring over his Flip 4, which I knew he had but I hadn't really listened to. After a listen, I knew which direction to take and figured it's bigger brother would give me the volume I needed. I don't really need 50 watts, although some may. My recommendations for those considering a D8 as a way of getting Bose or JBL quality sound for a lot less money is to not waste your time. That's why I am writing this for those that would normally consider a more premium speaker and have been influenced by the tremendous amount of Supernova type glowing reviews. I already took the plunge, but fortunately I can return the D8. On the other hand, if you've got the time and want to prove it for yourself, by all means order a D8 and put it to the test. Amazon's return policy is typically very good. After I've had the JBL long enough, I intend to put up a review. I give the W-King D8 a 3 star rating for sound quality but I added a star because of the value proposition. ... show more

So, this speaker is a medium-size speaker. Sounds great all the way up to a couple of notches from the max a little distortion sets in. Loudest blue tooth speaker I have tried at this price/market point. I hooked up both speakers and listened to the same song in the engine bay of the fire station, sounds great, even provides a little bass (not earth-shattering, but better than I would have expected.) I also had the opportunity to compare these 2 speakers playing in unison side by side to the Ulitmate Ears Hyperboom. Well, there was no comparison, the Hyperboom has way more bass, and is quite possibly the best sounding Bluetooth speaker at any price point it was louder and clear all the way up to the max volume. However, these 2 W-Kings at 1/4 the price were a close second for loudness with a lot less bass. (The UE hyperboom is a much larger speaker) So, on a budget or if you want to play them in multiple areas or rooms the W-Kings I would hand down recommend. Everyone I work with that heard them playing single and together plans on purchasing at least 1. Summary of my opinion: PROS: 1. Loud 2. Have a little bass 3. Budget priced 4. Pair 2 together for stereo mode 5. Massive battery capacity at 8000 MAh 6. WIll charge external devices from the USB port at a little over 2 amps, (measured at 2.103 Amps) CONS: 1. They are a little bit of a pain the first time to get to sync up on TWS or Trues Wireless Stereo Pair Mode. 2. The end cap protector looks cheesy 3. A little larger than Expected. 4. Not the best of the best, but if that is what you want, you will spend 6 times more for the class leader speaker. I highly recommend! ... show more
