I haven't had a chance to road test these, but the padding seems thick enough and the zippers work well. One quibble: they do fit *TIGHT*, so it takes a bit of time to wiggle your drums into them. I've never owned other cases, so I assume that is common across all soft-sided cases.

I dropped like $350 on a set of bags from Sweetwater for a brand new kit I'd planned on taking on the road, and the quality for the price (especially when compared to these) is MILES apart. The Sweetwater bags are paper thin for starters, there's absolutely zero padding, the handles on all of them started tearing away within two months, and by the sixth I'd lost two zippers and a third had just slid right off the track and disappeared. Came to Amazon to find this to replace mine, and a bag for my 14" floor tom since the pack I got at Sweetwater didn't have one, only a 16". These are better in absolutely EVERY way. They're actually padded, and the zippers don't feel flimsy or like they'll slide right off the end of the track thing if you don't stop yourself. The handles on these not only feel stronger, but they're actually thicker too, and don't feel too bad in your hand. I'm buying these "cheap Amazon bags" as I need to replace the rest of the other ones, I'd be stupid not to at this price point. Also go listen to Godhand. ... show more

I would not recommend these for any kind of heavy gigging. I bought them to protect my drums at home for the most part. The padding could be thicker but they will definitely keep my drums safe in my house or garage and that is what I was looking for.

So hard to tell what a bag is actually going to be like when you buy online but this will not disappoint! The main material is durable and the layer of protective foam is very substantial. Hubby is a gigging musician and this bag has amazing protection.

I can't speak to these as drum cases -- I got one to use for holding the reflectors for photographic lamps. For that purpose they work great. Nice tough canvas case, with good zippers and a carrying handle, protects my reflectors and makes it easy to transport them without damage.
