Got the 5 inch mattress. It comes with the cover already on. I did not notice any strong odor like I expected. This will be used for my niece or nephew for a couple weeks on the floor. I laid on it in the floor, and did not feel the ground under it when I laid on my back, so should be fine for kiddos who are much lighter. I pushed my hand down and did not see an imprint like you always see in memory foam ads, but maybe the cover is springier.
