The mattress is very firm at first, but it does soften slightly with use. It isn't the full 5” thick but closer to 4” even after several days. Since it’s so thin it’s very lightweight compared to full sized mattresses. It can be carried more easily by one person, and can be folded or rolled for easier transport. We didn't notice any bad smells that non-certified mattresses usually have. This one seems to be made out of high quality materials and it feels sturdy. It's replacing a discount store hybrid mattress that sagged in less than a year, so we're hoping this firmer foam mattress will last longer than that. ... show more

    • Mine is closer to firm, but doesn't create pressure points so I still can recommend it.
There can be a difference in softness with each lot of foam mattresses and mattress pads, and that seems to be the case here because mine is certainly more on the firm side. However, it isn't too firm to cause pressure points (I'm a side sleeper, and then on my back at some point during my sleep). My pad that I had before this was causing back pain because at some point during my sleep I always turn on my back, but with this new pad being somewhat firm I didn't have any back pain. I will update my review after time if I notice wear to soon, or if it gets too hot (we have 100 degree days coming up in a few days) or if it stays too cool in the winter. This is okay for short term in my honest opinion. As stated it’s 5 inch. It’s not terrible but definitely not super comfortable. This would ideally be great mattress for a child’s bed. It does seem like good quality and no weird smell. I say smell cause sometimes the mattresses in boxes have a strong offer to them. This did not. ... show more

Such a good deal, this twin mattress comes in a box and all you do is unroll and let it expand for 72hours . Perfect size super comfortable. Ordered this for my three year old to update her to her “big girl bed “ she slept on it the first and slept all night long. I really like that is mattress is fiberglass free and also that it is CertiPUR-US. If you’re looking for a good twin size mattress for a spare room or for your little one highly recommend this mattress. ... show more
