  • Awesome board, definitely recommend
Style: Mano (Shark)
I originally bought this board because I liked the design and my last board was getting pretty beat up. When the board came in I was surprised at the quality of the build. This is probably the 8th bodyboard I have owned (Yes I go through them a lot) and it’s definitely one of the best quality boards I have used. It just feels sturdier and it’s not that cheap foam Ive used on other boards. The slick bottom gives you a ton of speed but the ride is still pretty stable and I still feel like I have control. Ive been using this for the past couple of weeks and it’s still in great condition Overall it’s a really well made board and a ton of fun to ride. It’s definitely worth giving it a try and I’m gonna be using this for a long time. ... show more

  • Solid board, but overpriced
Style: Mano (Shark)
We're lucky enough to live a few hours from the ocean, and my kids are out on boogie boards every chance they can get. We've tried several brands, from the ones you can get at beach-side gas stations, on up. I'm not sure what I was expecting with this one, but it's at the top price point of what I'd pay for a board for my kids (don't get me wrong, they're amazing and responsible with their gear, but they play HARD). Pros - the wrist leash is sturdy, no worries there. The board itself is solid core and held up to teenager use on multiple occasions. They all liked the foot indents and the slick bottom. I think this will last us several seasons. Cons - this board is solidly comparable to fifty dollar boards. I just don't see enough difference in quality or structure to warrant the increase. ... show more

  • A really solid, well made board
Style: Mano (Shark)
I have to say that I personally do not give a lot of credence to reviews where the product has not been used, but.... Hawaii has entered its' rainy season and we have waited and waited for a nice day to go out, and I am looking forward to taking this board out. I have been in Hawaii for upwards of 30 years now, and spent a good chunk of that time living in Sunset Beach... which is more reknown for surfing than body boarding, but I lived in Velzyland, a couple of blocks down from the sunset pipeline, where the water is a bit calmer and more suited to body boarding and windsurfing. In any event I have spent a lot more time body-boarding and have to say that this is one of the nicest boards I have ever seen, and I have had at least half a dozen with a few more around for my husband and kids. This really is a beautifully made board which ought to last a good long time, and be able to handle Hawaiian surf with ease. Mine arrived in perfect shape, and a leash was included, though I have had several boards which did not come with one. It was sold separately, so I consider it a bonus of sorts. I will add pictures, and a review of how it does in the water shortly... how shortly is weather dependent ;) {I have been here long enough that I do get cold in weather which had me out in Central park in a swimsuit back when. People here wear down when it gets into the 70s.} It is still fall here, but in Hawaii that means a lot of rain. ... show more

  • A HUGE step up from the beach shop body boards
Style: Mano (Shark)
My girls took this board and another one to the beach a couple of times last week and compared to their old body boards it is miles better. The board is mostly foam, but not the cheap, easily broken foam of the kind you buy at the cheap beach shops. The slick plastic bottom stood up to the sand, although some of the graphics got worn off. Nothing unexpected. It is lightweight and my 11 year old had no trouble carrying it and using it. Several other kids borrowed this board and it held up to the abuse they put it through (trying to stand on it, towing each other with the wrist strap, etc). One of their old boards broke when someone stepped on it, and another board had its leash torn off when misused like that, so I was glad to see this one survived. At $100 this is more than I'd typically spend on a body board, but given how well it survived a pack of kids who beat it like a rented mule I'm guessing it is going to last us a long, long time. ... show more

  • Super durable! Highly recommend.
Style: Mano (Shark)
Amazing. The only one we had that lasted all summer! I am so happy with it! Used it many, many times in both the ocean and the pool. It is perfect for body boarding. Comfortable on my wrist. I would definitely recommend it.

  • Very Light
Style: Mano (Shark)
This board is fun. The picture on it has worn off after one time at the beach, the sand blasted it right off. The board also warped pretty easy. It probably is only going to last one season.

  • Ok board, overpriced compared to local pro companies
Style: Mano (Shark)
I have to be honest, don’t know much about this body board brand, can’t find any information on Free Riders Surf Company. I’m more familiar with local companies near me, like Hubboards (Vista, CA), Catch Surf (San Clemente, CA), No. 6 (Irvine, CA) and of course Tom Morey. Now I expect to pay over $100 for a Mach 7 (which is on my holiday wish list), Hubboards boards are a bit out of my price range at over $300 (one can only wish), then there is No. 6 which is quite affordable with many boards under $60 and last Catch Surf which has a wide range of bodyboards from $80-250. The first thing I noticed about the Free Riders Board is that the logo looked messy, there’s spots of ink around it. Not sure if that was by design, but just doesn’t look professional. It’s a decent board but its way over priced compared to the other companies that supply both pro and amateur boarders. I’m just 3 blocks from the beach so had a chance to head out and try it out. Again, decent board but not at this price point. ... show more
