  • Buyer Beware: This is not 320 grit paper to the U.S. CAMI scale nor is it Silicone Carbide!!!
Style: Extra Fine
I received this product this morning. This product is NOT correctly described. This is the second batch of paper I have purchased on Amazon (I purchased a separate Norton paper with a similar issue) where I have had a problem. Two major issues: 1. This is NOT 320 grit paper to the U.S. CAMI scale. Rather it is P320 grit manufactured to the European FEPA scale. 320 grit has an abrasive size between 42 and 45 micron. P320 grit has an abrasive size of 52 micron . . . this paper is comparable to being slightly coarser than 240 grit on the CAMI scale. You have to turn over the paper to find the P-rating. I can tell you that this paper is definitely coarser than 320 grit (CAMI) as I had a sheet left with which to compare. 2. This is NOT Silicone Carbide paper! This paper is Aluminum Oxide per 3M's own site . . . the back of the paper says '213Q' which is one of 3M's abrasive product types. I was flattening a varnish coat this morning by wet sanding and definitely noted that this paper only lasts perhaps 1/3 as long as silicone carbide abrasive. While not related to the above, I received my shipment a day late and the price has since gone up $1.05 since 3 days ago. ... show more

  • Can't go wrong with 3M!
Style: Super Fine
I needed a good wet/dry paper to shape the bevel on new tools, and this will do the job easily. This will make 15 pieces. My method is: shape bevel with 400, refine with 800, smooth with 1200 or 1500, remove marks with 5000 or 7000, then strop with green or gold compound for a final polish. Sharpen when using with just a touch on 7000 and strop. Use two sided tape to hold paper on sheet glass for really flat surfaces. A LOT cheaper than water stones or diamond stones, and does the same job just as fast. Trust 3M for all your paper grits! ! Spent less for the glass and all my paper than one diamond stone costs! ... show more

  • This excellent quality sandpaper gave me fabulous results!
Style: Assorted Grit
I used this sandpaper to refurbish some chrome metal office chairs. Since the sandpaper is assorted, It was perfect for the job. I used the grittier sheets to remove the rust and the finer sheets to polish the metal once the rust was removed. I bought a tube of Flitz here on Amazon and used it to give a final finish to the chairs. I got perfect results and the chairs look brand new. This sandpaper is excellent quality, thick and durable. One pack of this sandpaper did all five chairs and I still have sandpaper left over. I'm really glad I bought this sandpaper. ... show more

  • Used for Canvas
Style: Assorted Grit
I haven’t used this for wood or anything else except a Canvas panel. I needed sandpaper so I can have a bit of a smoother surface on my canvas. I used the sandpaper after certain layers of gesso like one does and it works pretty great. Although I would be careful about The amount of pressure you might put on the sandpaper while sanding because it has left a few black marks every once in a while. Of course that might not be an issue to some people but just letting you know in case it might be for someone else. Overall it does it’s job. ... show more

  • 400 grit! An important step!
Style: Super Fine
Needed some 400 grit sandpaper. These sheets cut into 4 pieces of 4-1/2" x 5-1/2" for use on some hand sanding blocks. Other blocks like the 3M block you'll need to cut strips. I like to use a 120, 400, 1000, 2000 step process for polishing metal. Followed by some Flitz afterwards for great results. Edit: I actually prefer the red sheets of sandpaper 3M makes instead. They seem to last longer. ... show more

  • I needed some 320 grit and this is all I could find...
Style: Assorted Grit
I couldn't find any 320 grit by itself, so I had to by this variety pack. It's good sandpaper. I used it with oil and with water, and it held up fairly well. It's a little different then most sandpapers I've used, it just feels and looks a little different when compared with other types. I'm no sandpaper expert, so maybe it's totally normal, who knows. What I do know is it worked well for me, and I was sanding steel and had no problems at all using this paper. ... show more

  • Works as expected
Style: Extra Fine
3M always makes reliable products and this is no different. I needed this to sand down some metal that I was using for jewelry. The sandpaper works well and doesn't require too much elbow grease. It also seems to last a very long time as I was able to use 1 pad for nearly all of my sanding. If you're looking for a simple solution for sanding nearly anything...this is definitely the sandpaper for you. ... show more

  • You’ll have to cut down
Style: Extra Fine
I used these to prep my kitchen cabinets for painting. I went through a lot more sandpaper than anticipated, but that is not a reflection on this product. My ‘complaint’ is that I wish they were mallet pieces of sandpaper- I just cut them into 6 smaller pieces and it worked really well.
