  • When applied correctly to the appropriate hard surface the film is very durable and scratch resistant.
  • When heated and stretched it can be applied to extreme curved surfaces with a little patience and work.
  • The film is coated with a UV protective layer which lasts up to 7 years outdoors.
  • Once applied and bonded to you surface you may clean it and polish it with any type of cleaning agent that is used for painted surfaces.
  • Rapid Air adhesive needs to be applied dry and can be re lifted, repositioned and stretched before going over with a squeegee.

Description

3M 1080 Series Matrix Black Vinyl is a dual cast film specifically designed for vehicle application to provide dimensional stability and durability without the need for an overlaminate. The pressure-activated adhesive allows you to slide and reposition the film over the surface of the vehicle until you apply firm pressure. 3M 1080 is available in 60in (5 ft) widths making it possible to wrap virtually any section of a vehicle without seams. The non- visible air release channels assure a fast, easy and virtually bubble-free installation, when professionally installed. Saving valuable installation time.

I'm a fan of 3M vinyl wrap and this one is no exception. I love the texture and feel of this pattern in particular. It has a wide variety of applications. I have currently used some on my car's grille and the sides of gaming mouse. It looks and feels really nice. If I had to mention some gripes I have with 3M's vinyl, I will say that is it a little bit harder to work with than other vinyl wraps. I think this is due to the thickness of the wrap, which I suppose is the tradeoff. For this texture in particular, I wish the pattern was just a bit bigger. From afar, the wrap just looks like a matte carbon and you don't really see the matrix pattern. So, I wish they offered a warp with a slightly larger pattern. I’m not a pro at wrapping or anything just very handy. I’ve found this brand and this particular vinyl very easy to work with. Wrapped my motorcycle with a bunch of awkward shapes and and lot of tearing the wrap on and off and it still had good tac to it. I prefer the 3m over Vivid brand for that reason. Has a great stretch threshold too if you wanna pull these over edges. I highly recommend these ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This is one of those wraps that surprises you as being nicer than you'd hope irl. The texture is really nice feeling, seems really high quality, easy to work with. Just great all around. One thing to note, depending on the lighting it can show up as a fairly light grey or an extra dark black. There's a lot of variation on what it looks like, but if you're afraid of a lighter grey it does show up that way pretty often. ... show more

The texture on this wrap is super unique, was able to do my trucks roof and b pillars, and then some interior parts as well! 3M is super high quality and definitely workable, this was my first time using wrap and it went smooth being patient and careful and prepping surfaces properly. What's not to love about 3M's Black Matrix textured wrap? I tested it out on an interior application on the area surrounding my AC controls in my Toyota Tacoma, as well as on one of the AC knobs, and love how it turned out. Kind of looks like a fresh take on the carbon fiber look if you are interested in doing something like that. 3M is known for producing high-quality vinyl wraps so it should last for quite a long time. I purchased a 1'x5' roll of this vinyl so I have plenty left to tackle other fun wrapping projects on my truck. ... show more
