This kids keyboard is a lot of fun for the littles. It sounds great. Its pretty loud but the volume is adjustable. You do have to put your lips basically on the microphone in order to hear your voice in it and if youre not sharing with any other kids, its not as gross as youd think.     • Great for beginners
This is a very nice starter keyboard, it's lightweight, has lots of sounds and instrument settings, the microphone is very fun. This does take batteries but you can also plug it in with a micro USB charger. The microphone is detachable and has a spot to store it under the keyboard when not using.

    • Okay beginner keyboard for little kids
I really want to like this keyboard. For the price, this is a good find. It just has a few kinks that aren't the seller's fault, but just an odd product. The animal sounds don't really sound like animals at all. It took me a while to figure out those weren't the drum noises, and actually a dog barking. The coding on the keyboard is also odd - the buttons are numbered or lettered left to right, but the information key is written up to down which is a bit confusing at first to match the key to the actual buttons. This is so fun! The kids love it, even the baby! It's a great size - not too big, nor too small. The microphone is a good size for kids, and it feels very "real." You can have background beats play, and you can record the kids playing. There are enough keys to play full songs. I had something like this when I was a child, and I really loved it. I am thrilled to find one that is so good for such a great price. It's really quite good. I was surprised that the baby liked playing it, too, because I assumed that only the older children would love it. Nope. The 14-month-old plays it, too. Coming up with a rating for this item is a little difficult due to its low cost. If I evaluate it based on comparisons to other keyboards, it would get a 1. But if I review it based primarily on its low cost, I'd probably move it up to a four. For the price, you get a lot of features. But in terms of quality, you do get what you pay for. The "piano" is cheap and that word can apply to almost everything about it. It feels cheap and I have to question its long term durability. I have a feeling that one fall on the floor and this one will be finished. And given this is for kids, the likelihood of mishaps is great. There is one very significant problem with this keyboard. Specifically, you can only get sounds from two keys at a time. You cannot, for example, play a three-fingered chord. The third note doesn't register. That's a major issue since the ad copy says "...play the piano like a regular keyboard..." and makes all sorts of inferences about how this will help your child develop his or her musical skills. The sound quality varies significantly, depending upon what you are doing. The "animal sounds" are a bit of a joke. And the rhythms are pretty poor. If I look at this as a 5 or 6 year old might, then this product may be a winner. There are lots of things it can do, even if it does do them poorly. For a young child, that will likely be more important than the sound quality or whether you can play three notes at once. I would not recommend this if your intentions are to get a serious musical instrument. I would, however, recommend it if you are just looking for a fun toy for a young child, recognizing, that it may not be around for a long time. ... show more
