The interface on mine is different than the one pictured. Both interfaces are shown in the manual, but I could not find a way to switch between them. They both display exactly the same information. I like that this meter displays all information at the same time instead of having to cycle through multiple screens. The 350A shunt is included. According to the manual the shunt can handle 350A "regular" and 500A max. 6 meters (19.6ft) of shielded cable is included so the display can be mounted pretty far from the shunt. Mounting screws are included for the shunt. The display mounts into a square cutout and is held in place by tabs on the top and bottom of the display unit. The battery capacity is entered in the settings menu. If the battery has a full charge and you know the capacity, then you can hold the up arrow to set the meter to 100%. If the battery is empty hold the down arrow to set the meter to 0%. If you want to find the actual battery capacity, set it to something sure to be over its capacity, drain it, set the meter to 0% then charge it. When it is done charging, the total capacity will be displayed and you can change the capacity to that number. From there the meter will track the current going into and out of the battery. The backlight brightness can be adjusted by pressing the up and down arrows or turned off by holding in on the settings button. The light pulses when the battery is being charged unless the light is turned off. If using with a lead acid battery that you do not want to drop below a certain charge, there is a low capacity setting that will flash the screen and sound an alarm when that threshold is reached.   • Take the quess work out of calculating capacity and consumption.
First, know what you're doing before wiring this in. This monitor is great for measuring your actual usage and capacity in multiple-size power arrays. I used to use different amp meters to gauge multiple devices to calculate an estimate; this monitor removes the guesswork. You can either use it for testing a system's load and capacity or wire it in as a permanent fixture to continue monitoring your solar/battery systems. You CAN use this in 12/24v boat systems OR 120V systems running through an inverter. DO NOT use this on 220v or 240v systems unless you're regulating voltage down to the support ranges of the monitor. ... show more

I've recently delved into DIY solar projects, and as part of this learning process, I've been testing various smaller systems, including DIY power stations. This means I've accumulated a number of batteries that need to be evaluated for their actual capacity. Initially, I was using smart plugs connected directly to the inverter to measure capacity, but I quickly realized that this method didn’t provide accurate results due to the conversion loss from the inverter. To resolve this issue, I learned about dedicated capacity monitoring devices like this one, which connect directly to the battery before the inverter, giving me much more accurate capacity readings. The product arrived with a manual that was clear and easy to follow. The wiring diagram provided all the necessary details, and I had no trouble setting it up based on the instructions. This capacity measuring device offers two main methods of use: When You Know the Battery's Capacity: If you already know the battery’s rated capacity, you can enter this value into the device settings. From there, it measures the in-going and out-going current, providing a real-time display of the remaining battery percentage and the amperage being drawn or supplied. It’s an efficient way to monitor battery usage and keep track of how much energy is left in the system. When You Don't Know the Battery's Capacity: In situations where the battery’s actual capacity is unknown, this device helps you find it. You begin by setting the expected capacity value slightly higher than what you estimate. After fully discharging the battery, for example by running an inverter until the battery’s protection system shuts it down, you press and hold the down arrow button for more than two seconds, which sets the device to recognize the battery as "empty." Then, you begin charging the battery, making sure the charger is connected through the shunt (which should be in line with the inverter connection). Once the battery is fully charged, the display shows the actual amount of amperage the battery accepted during charging, revealing its true capacity. The device also displays the battery’s voltage, and when the battery is discharging, the outgoing current is shown as a negative value with the corresponding wattage. Conversely, when the battery is being charged, the amperage value appears as positive. The wattage, whether in or out, is constantly shown, providing a clear picture of what’s happening in real-time. One feature worth mentioning is that the device consumes a small amount of power itself, but the brightness of the display can be adjusted to minimize this. The settings menu is easy to navigate, and the functionality is straightforward. After acquiring this capacity monitoring unit, I’ve tested multiple batteries and have been able to determine their actual usable capacity. This has been invaluable, especially when certain batteries didn’t meet their advertised performance, allowing me to return them.
