  • first time buyer
i am very satisfied with the results presented from the device, it performs very well for my specific needs, looking for poorly insulated areas of walls and ceilings, PCB/component hot spots, and general use. the battery life could be a little bit longer though and if you use the auto-shut off feature, there is no way to stop it from counting down from 5 to shut down without having to power the unit on again, pressing any buttons doesnt stop the count down, its best off not to use the auto-shutdown feature as the boot-up time is a bit long. some attached photos for reference (using only thermal imager): cat, hot coffee in a ceramic mug, missing insulation in ceiling, laptop and my hand. ... show more

  • Great Camera, software interface need to catch up.
I have used FLIR and other brands for years in Law enforcement and Fire Rescue. Ive used this in construction now for 5 months and am very pleased. The quality of the unit and the sensor is very good. Fit and finish is impressive and button quality is nice. The first (2) pics are the location of a pin hole water leak. Client could not figure why their floors began to buckle, being there was no visible signs of water. The round spot at the top is the point of spray on to the drywall and the line below shows a fine line of water trailing down. The interface sucks! It's like old school multi click to select and can get a bit frustrating. But, the quality and price makes me tolerate it and glad to have it. ... show more

  • great for troubleshooting
This is helpful while working in the HVAC trade. It can easily at a glance see the temps around the house, office building or wherever you're working. It identifies issues and very specifically helped find a super rare restriction inside a condenser coil at work. I've never seen a coil be restricted like this before, with this camera, it showed exactly where the temp drop was happening in the coil, pinpointing the restriction without needing to open the system. 10 out of 10. I'll get another if this ever wears out or breaks for sure. it has a variety of color modes so you can pick the one that works best for you. ... show more

  • I like it a lot
It took a bit to learn this Camera as the instructions are a bit to review to get it. But I did get very good (within 24 hour ) customer support to handle my difficulties with the calibration. I have used the camera for a couple of weeks it works very well as is designed and described. I chose this model over the FLIR as it had better reviews and higher resolution, and less expensive by a bit. I use the camera often for my work. It is a good product and I would recommend it. ... show more

  • Device worked for one month
I hardly ever write product reviews; however, I spent half a grand on a product which worked for approximately 30 days. I have communicated with the seller and tech service to try and resolve the problem to no avail. I'm a mechanic and wanted to use the A2 for diagnostic purposes. It worked perfectly until one day I booted it up and the screen froze. I was able to long press the power button until it shut down but ever since, the imager will not do anything. I have tried doing everything I was told to do by seller including contacting amazon customer service. The device is in mint condition with the original screen cover still in place and not so much as a scratch so i believe it has some sort of internal problem. All I wanted was to have the device exchanged, instead have gotten nothing except a runaround. I will be purchasing a FLIR product the next time around. I will edit this review if my problem is resolved, until then, BUYER BEWARE!!! ... show more

  • Might be the most important purchase of your life!!
This saved me over $200,000 the first day I bought it by preventing an electrical fire that could have burned my house down! I was able to immediately find an unused electrical outlet that had failed and was heating up to the point of melting on the inside with no obvious warning signs! The screws had either loosened or were never tightened by the installer, and so were heating up due to the poor connection! Absolutely worth every penny! ... show more

  • High battery usage
The battery life is short, the image quality isn’t as good as I expected but other than that it will be fine for me.

  • A 6th sense
I am very satisfied with the HT-A2 unit that I purchased. It allows me to see relative differences in temperatures of objects via infrared light that would be hidden to me otherwise. Some example uses: 1. I can see the location of fresh dog poop at night. 2. I can see the slight rise in temperature of an electrical cord of a cold electric tea kettle as it heats water. 3. I can tell at a glance which automobiles in my neighborhood have recently been run based on the hood temperature. 4. I can take walks along dark paths on cold nights and be able to spot people in the distance. Some technical properties of the HT-A2: 1. I measured the horizontal field of view to be approximately 45°. 2. It can save 240 x 320 JPEG images. 3. The median image size from 45 images I saved: 157 kilobytes. 4. Image storage capacity: Approximately 3.22 gigabytes. 5. It has no microSD slot. 6. Thermal image data refresh rate feels about 10 Hz. 7. It has no video recording capability. 8. Has a small LED spotlight. 9. Size is about 1.5 credit cards wide, 1.5 credit cards long, and about half a credit card thick. Notes: 1. I haven't tested battery life much but it seems to last at least a half-hour of continuous use without indicating it goes below half capacity (I've never fully depleted it). 2. I wouldn't use it for scientific measurements of absolute temperature since the sensor (a microbolometer, I believe) is uncooled. Has micro USB 2.0 female port to permit download and deletion of images. ... show more
