I love the look and geometry of this new Wake handlebar stem. I paired it with a wake handlebar and the overall feel of the bike has greatly improved. The new stem brought the handlebar a bit closer which makes the bike feel more agile and easy to turn. This stem was also a lot lighter than the stock big box steel part it replaced, which has improved the feel of the bike. I can’t get over the look either - it make me feel like my Walmart Schwinn is a bit closer to being a proper mountain bike. If you’re putting this on your bike, be sure to buy some extra stem spacers as you will likely need to add or adjust the sizing to get the new stem to sit right.     • Measure both inside diameters. Be sure parts fit securely. Avoid overtightening. Test fit.

So it is a bit of a mixed bag, ultimately it didn't work for me. I did a bike build and wanted to experiment with stem lengths to find the right cockpit. Anodization is nice quality and blingy, doesn't appear to scratch easily. Weight is a little more than expected, but felt solid. Fit 1 1/8" and bolts all tightened in cleanly and securely. Solid and has a BMX feel. So why only 3 stars? It is way shorter than a standard stem, make sure you have extra spacers! I didn't like that the steerer tube was exposed (and may rust?) in the gap. There's no way to insert spacer in that gap due to the design. I like a window Also, when I tried to tighten up on my 31.8 carbon bars I felt like there was too much of a gap at the connectors (like this was designed for a slightly smaller diameter tube?) I put it on allow bars and tightened down and seemed fine. Anyway, cheap enough to experiment with and not feel bad! ... show more
