  • It worked for my needs
Style: Island
I’ve only just received this and have used this one time for one game, so I cannot speak to the longevity of it, but it did work. I chose this version over others because of next day delivery when I ordered it. The instructions were only slightly helpful but I was able to get it figured it out after a lot of trial and error button pushing. For my limited and occasional use, this is perfect! I’ve seen comments that it is cheap quality and I am sure that is true if you are comparing it to any brand name gaming console, but I did find it to be functional and experienced no problems once I figured out how to navigate the main screen. We played one of several Super Mario options available and it was exactly as I remember it from 25+ years ago. 99% of the games were foreign to me but there was a ton of variety and setup was plug in & play. 4 stars for the instructions being confusing. ... show more

  • plug and play and not much else
Style: Island
So it's definitely plug and play but the library of games is littered with duplicate copies of the same games in different regions/languages. The games are pretty much all 8 bit games with some arcade mame title. its does NOT have 16bit title SNES, Genesis so no mario kart, sonic, final fantasy, etc. No N64, Saturn, or Dreamcast, its mostly old 8 bit titles. I looked to see if I could remap the buttons on the joypad and there were no options so games like street fighter are a bit wonky to play. The controllers have a noticeable lag so its not fun, all the games play stretched out on modern widescreen tv as they didn't keep the 4:3 aspect ratio with borders on the side and no option for 4:3 so some of the screen is missing when its stretched out. I would not recommend, too many basic deficiency's ... show more

  • good system, lots of emulators
Great system. It does have 30k games. 10/page, so if you take a minute to look at each page (6 seconds/title), it would take you FIFTY HOURS just to look at all the games. But that's silly: too long. You don't need to stare at each title for 6 seconds. So let's say 10 seconds/page, which means you look at a new title each second. 6 pages a minute is 500 minutes, which is still more than 8 hours, just SCANNING quickly. (somebody check my math) If you actually select a game, it takes about/at least 10 seconds to load. So there is likely no way you will ever come close to trying every game on this console. Moreover, there are so many copies of games. Look how many King of Fighters versions there on page 8! If I recall correctly, it starts with King of Fighters, so there's pages and pages of just that game. Also, there are a bunch of Japanese language games you've never heard of and probably aren't interested in playing. Some of them you won't be able to play unless you can read Japanese (because you have to answer questions). So the best way to use this game is to look up games you want to play. It has a bunch, with a bunch of different emulators. I have some favorites Iike to check: Joust. Although this system has MAME and arcade games, the only joust version it has are versions ported to consoles. You can see the one I selected is the Nintendo version. The physics are pretty close, but it doesn't have the arcade sounds and clarity, which with a game like this, is probably vital. It has Shadowrun and Shadowgate, which is a big plus for me. It even has Prince of Persia! Another must. You can see that it only has Gauntlet 2, and even though it says "FREE PLAY," I think that's because it is a ported console game and not the arcade version. I did try a MAME game and the select button gives you coins. Every game I tried worked except that the arcade version of Rampart was taking so long I assumed it froze and backed out. I think if I'd waited it would have worked...but that game normally requires a trackball, so not sure it would have played right anyway. Good menu with plenty of options to customize your game, including the Input/Output map/checker. The controls to select a game, start the game, select from a search, weren't always the intuitive and game controls once you got in the game weren't always the same (to be expected with different systems being emulated). Also, the first game that arrived was dead. I plugged it in and got no response. I contacted the company and they sent another one. I used the new cord on both the new and old console, and it worked for both. So: good customer service. Favoriting system so you can more easily play the games you find and like works pretty well. Search function is good. I like that it has an integral speaker with a volume button. RECOMMENDED If you want a plug-and-play retro game system with some limitations. ... show more

  • Controllers are plastic junk......
Style: Island
A fun selection of games, I know what i am getting from a pandora's box, but the controllers that come with this are awful, and its impossible to get any other USB controller to work with this at all. Wouldn't recommend unless you are able to get other 3rd part controllers to work

  • Great price with some drawback, worth buying!
Style: PAC
I saw this on YouTube, shout out Madlittlepixel. So the good, it's small and mountable. It has a ton of games and performs very well. The bad and it's not a deal breaker. The menu is horrible and the controllers feel cheap but I'm used to premium ones. I bought this for my kids and now I'm buying one for myself. No lies I didn't get paid by them this is a decent buy. It's not the best but very far from the worst. ... show more
