  • Nice adapter
I wanted an adapter that would split the hot on the L5-30 end and place it on BOTH hot legs of the L14-30 end. I decided to get this one due to a review which said it did what I needed. I got the cable adapter and it is very nice, properly wired the way I need it with the hots, neutral, and ground in the correct positions. This cable will allow me to hook up my L14-30 transfer switch and feed both legs with the single phase 120v that my small generator provides. Yes, I won’t be able to use 240v circuits, and will need to keep in mind any shared common circuits, but my generator isn’t really big enough for either of these to matter. ... show more

  • I hope it works out of the box!
UPDATE 4/03/2025 Add photos to show intended application. ======================================================================= For anyone who owns the Mango Power E and its extra accessory 30 amp 4 prong generator charge cable, this adapter will be needed to use that cable to operate from a 30 amp receptacle like that found on the Honda EU 2000i Companion series. While the Mango cable is a 4 wire male plug into the generator source, it uses only one leg into its proprietary 3 wire connection to the Mango power station. Note: when using this pigtail for that purpose, it's a good idea to have 2 Hondas in parallel to provide the needed output. I don't have the Mango cable yet, so a functional test is precluded at this point, yet the pigtail is of sufficient quality and flexibility. It is hoped that adapters of this sort are compatible with the wiring standard of the Mango to pick up the correct "leg". If not, a rewire will be in order. Even if that is needed, it is less expensive than cobbling together an adapter with sufficient gauge generator cable and individually bought connectors. As a final note and disclaimer-- in many reviews I've written, I have described self help methods that I neither advocate or recommend others do. It's just a description of what I did to address a particular issue. Beware the risks of self help. ... show more

  • Hot splits to both hots
Power cord adapter is as expected. Just beware that both "Hot" wires on the 240V connection are getting power from the single "Hot" on the 120V side. If you're expecting this to convert 120V power to 240V, it won't be doing that (and anything expecting 240V power won't be able to run from power thru this). For many this may be OK for getting generator power to some house circuits, but some houses have 2 circuits wired thru one cable with a common neutral. Those can have too much power going thru the neutral wire from this, so ask someone who knows electrical about such before using this to double check. ... show more

  • Works pretty good but is unstable in the generator
Seems like really decent quality. For using with a Predator generator, it seems unstable in the plug in part. The weight of the plug pulls down so you have to put something under the wire so that it doesn't wiggle around. Other than that its awesome.

  • Perfect for hooking up a 120V Generator to 240V Socket
Why would you need this? Well if your trying to hook up a small Generator to run only certain 120V loads on your RV or house then this allows you to power only one phase. So basically you will Have lights, the Fridge and any other 120V items that are on that phases power but the other phase will not be powered. Leaving the full 240V four prong socket in place would allow the flexibility so that a 240V generator with a different cable is hooked up it would power everything. Do not do this unless an electrician has installed a transfer switch and loads panel for your generator and approved the wiring. Small Generators Sip Gas so having one in your backup plan is great for emergencies for when fuel for a larger generator may be scarce. ... show more

  • Appears to be well made.
I have not run this yet , hence 4 not 5 stars, but otherwise it looks to be well made. The plugs have a slight texture on them which is nice fr a better grip. The cord has some flex to it, but none of the large cords really have a lot (flexibility) to them. Over-all I am happy with this for my generator kit. ... show more

  • Exactly what I needed! Works great!
This adapter connects a 120v generator output to a transfer switch configured with two 120v branches. That is what I have; rather than having my transfer switch wired for 220v split-phase, I have both hot legs only feeding 120v outlets. Previously, I had made my own cable where the x and y branches were jumpered. This cable does that for me and looks much better than my home-brew solution. This cable specifically goes from the 30A parallel cable output of my two 120v generators to my transfer switch. This cable appears to be high-quality and well-made. I can find no fault with it. As usual, I will update my review after long-term use. ... show more
