This gardening set is for use in loose/tilled soil and potting soil. The tools can be used for weeding around flowers and garden items where the soil has some moisture. What these are not good for is heavy duty work. I tried using the shovel today while working on my sprinkler valves, and I could feel it start to bend after a couple of scoops. It works well in the garden, but not for digging in soils with clay. The wooden handles fit my hands well. There are also leather strings attached to the handles which make it easier for handling them up; hooks don't go through the holes in the handles too well. ... show more

This trio of hand tools seems well constructed and is attractive. It's fairly light weight, but doesn't feel flimsy; I'm not sure how it would handle a heavy, dense clay but all the pieces fo great in my sandy soil. I'm enjoying using them.

Having used garden tools made of light fiber composite material from Fiskars for years, I like how these have a bit more heft. For example, with this metal trowel, I'm able to dig deeper into the soil with less effort, compared to the Fiskars trowel. However, this "Gardening Hand Rake Fork Tools Kit Set" is poorly manufactured. See the attached photos. On all 3 tools, there are gaps in the metal brackets between the handle and the metal tool, which would allow moisture to seep in and possibly rot the wood that grips the metal. For the shovel and rake, the metal edges are sharp where they meet the wooden handle. If you're not wearing gloves, these sharp edges could accidently cut your fingers. ... show more

I've had negative experiences with gardening tools in the past (handles are shaky/fall off), but these have been great and really sturdy so far! I will update this review in the future if anything changes.

The HAIUWOER “Set of 3 Garden Tool Set-Garden Trowel, Heavy Duty Work Set Tools,Stainless Steel Gardening Work Kit with Solid Wood Ergonomic Handle Hand Tools…” arrived promptly today. The online information is contradictory. It states the composition of the metal as (1)“Stainless Steel” in the above introductory heading. In the description area I find (2): “Material Aluminum, Plastic Item Dimensions LxWxH 11 x 9 x 2 inches Handle Material Solid Wood” Further down on the page I read (3)—“Shovel, Soil Plow Fork And Rake Is Lacquered Iron-“. I have not as yet seen so many contradictory descriptions - stainless steel, aluminum and lacquered iron - of a product. A magnet, density and other engineering tests reveal that the composition of the tools is Nickel-plated low carbon steel. This is “None of the above three” listed in the advertisement. In addition, the tang on the shovel (place where metal inserts into the handle) is problematic. The tang of the shovel blade is inserted unevenly and Insufficiently. Dangerous exposed sharp edges and teeth can cause injury due to poor design and poor workmanship. ... show more
