  • They work
Size: 16 inch Style Name: 2 pack
I have a 17' Xpress bass boat with a but seat (I know it has two "t"s but Amazon's filter won't allow that "naughty" word...SMH) up front and full seat in back. I like the back, which leaves my 5'5" brother in law with the but seat. The post for the but seat even at it's lowest is still to high for him. So he tossed a full sized seat assembly at me for when he's visiting. Unfortunately the post size was completely different. SO I ordered a new seat plates and these matching base posts to make his life a little more enjoyable. Frankly, I was getting tired of him complaining about how he was getting outfished because he kept slipping off his seat. Anyway. I had issues with getting the old base post out, it hadn't been removed for 8 yrs. Bur it ultimately came out. I cleaned up the mounting hole, even went in there with a wire brush cleaner on the end of a drill. Hit it with white lithium and the old base post slide in and out like butter. Went to put the new base post in, NO WAY NO HOW was that going to fit. If you look at the shaft the collar thins out near the end but then goes back to just a BIT LARGER than shaft diameter at the very end, I understand it's to provide a solid, secure fit that eliminates seat wobble, I get it. But this was not even going into the mounting hole. After cleaning the hole some more and trying the "wobble" method of getting the shaft into the hole, I finally capitulated and went for the mini grinder. I turned the shaft twice around the side of the grinding blade to get it to fit in the hole. Applied another layer of white lithium and called it a day. It's a secure fit that allows me to swamp it out, but not too tight where I need a pry bar. So I mentioned my type of boat earlier, not to brag but to let you know you might end up with the same issues. Or maybe it was just corrosion on my end or maybe I got a post that wasn't machined down correctly. Be aware there's a warning on these that say you shouldn't be sitting on these posts in seats while the boat is moving (at speed). IDK if it's a safety thing, getting spun around and tossed overboard or if it's a structural issue with the pin snapping off from too much backwards force. If/when it breaks from me leaning too far back in my chair (I'm 240lbs) I'll let you know. But yeah, traveling in my bass boat at speed from spot to spot in that front seat is just an accident waiting to happen. I got the 13" twin pack, to match the twin seat plates I also ordered. They are markedly more expensive than when I ordered them in October, so I leave it up to you to decide if they're still a good value. ... show more

  • Perfect fit
Size: 16 inch Style Name: 2 pack
These poles were the perfect fit for my boat seats. My others had been worn out over the years to the point that they were hard to seat onto the base, and a pain to remove. These seat easy and remove easy at the end of the day. Great product.
