Though these are generally for trickle charging car batteries, I've repurposed them to be used for low-wattage devices. I had to buy a different cable (micro usb) to hook this solar panel up to my security camera and it works well to keep the battery at 100%. Now, I don't have to recharge my cameras every few months. The only reason I removed 1 star from a perfect review is that I don't see these panels lasting all too long. They seem cheaply made and very very fragile. ... show more

I measured about 2W (.13A @ 14.7V) in direct sun using my solar controller. I was more interested in the voltage. It should work fine as a trickle charger and not overcharge. I attached it to my camper using the included suction cups. They have stuck for a few days so far but in the winter, I plane to just secure it to a post. It can be connected to the battery via clips or a cigarette lighter port. Just make sure your cigarette lighter isn't switched off with the ignition. The panel itself seem pretty durable and feels like thick circuit board material. It doesn't feel fragile at all. there are 4 holes for mounting or attaching the included suction cups. Just know when using the suction cups the wire port on the back will get in the way of one hole. I knocked off one star because I only got 2W in full sun. 3W-4W would be 75% of rated. ... show more

I installed this connected to my boat battery by the charger connection. It came with sufficient cables that I did not need to do any wiring in my setup. I measured the amperage and this is clearly a battery "maintainer". In shade and clouds it produced only 20mA of charging and it took full sun to see 260mA of charging. IMHO this will offset the sulfating losses on the battery and maintain the charge as is. According to others: "A lead acid battery left in storage at moderate temperatures has an estimated self-discharge rate of 5% per month. This rate increases as temperatures rise and as the risk of sulfation goes up." Buy this if that is your intent to maintain the battery over periods of storage. ... show more

    • Lightweight - Works To Produce Power - Time Will Tell
This solar battery maintainer is a very lightweight panel that I did not successfully get to secure to the window of my vehicle. I have a car that gets driven once or twice a month and sometimes, it loses its charge enough to not allow for the doors to unlock with the fob. My thoughts are to install this maintainer to see if I can keep the battery charged and not need to hook up a battery charger to get the car to start. We will have to see how well this works (and I will follow up on this review) but for now, I'm not completely sold. The light wind that we had yesterday resulted in the solar panel being blown off the side of the car and was hanging by the wire on the side of the car. While unboxing, I noticed the panel was rigid and well constructed. Although I am not planning on using them, it comes with suction cups. It also comes with a variety of cables for different connection methods. I order this item specifically to maintain the battery while my wife and I are cruising or traveling, where we will have the car parked for an extended period of time. I am literally going to plug it into the cigarette lighter and put it on the dash board. We will be cruising soon and I will update this review at that time upon our return.     • No more dead battery
I got this as a battery maintainer. I am disabled and don't drive much- so my car will sit for weeks at a time. I tend to have to jump it before going anywhere. However, this connects to the battery and keeps it from dying! It was very easy to set up. I haven't had a dead battery since hooking it up! I'm loving it!!!! I love that it comes with a suction cup. The media could not be loaded. This LUSRAIT Solar Panel Trickle Charging Kit does a fine job of keeping the battery in our "weekend" car in good condition. It also ensures that things like the clock, radio memory, and ECU ("computer") don't reset should the battery fail in some other way. I have mine attached by the included suction cups to a window in the car closest to a south-facing window in my storage facility, and even though it's not in direct sunlight for most of the day, this panel supplies sufficient current to keep everything working. When I received my LUSRAIT Solar Panel Trickle Charging Kit it was securely packed and included a pair of battery clamps, a cable with ring terminals, and one with a cigarette lighter plug, along with five suction cups and a user's guide. I have attached the ring terminals to the battery connections on my tractor and intend to use this panel to keep its battery up over the winter, as I've made other provisions for long-term storage of this car. The battery clamps will be useful for keeping any spare batteries charged. I'm quite impressed with how little sunlight this panel needs to function (although of course full sunlight gives the most current) and how well it's constructed. This would be useful to anyone who needs to keep a 12-volt vehicle battery charged without requiring AC power. ... show more
