  • Great printer, great support.
Buy this printer. It does what you want it to, perfectly. You're going to have to learn how to set it up though. It might not be the easiest thing to do, but, with the great phone support and a bit of patience you'll get it. The negative reviewers gave up too easily. So many different network setups, pcs etc...it's nearly impossible to be "plug and play". Yes, it will take some effort to get it to work with all the shippers methods, but blame them for not being uniform, not the printer. We have had 2. The first was just USB and it worked great but when we reconfigured our offices and added more PC users we upgraded to the Network printer. It has been flawless for over a year. Thousand of labels. We use it for shipping and our own custom labels. I am here to buy a second one so I dont have to switch between sizes. While you can, you have to change settings and it can get flustered. If you want a solid printer that once set up will work flawlessly buy this printer. If you want mindless "plug and play" good luck, every one I tried has it's own set of issues. ... show more

  • IP based printing works good. VM to VM on a Server with QuickBooks Desktop using UPS app in QB.
I have a difficult setup and I was concerned it might not work but it is a great printer. I run on a iMac with a Win 10 virtual machine. That VM connects to a second VM machine on a Server 2019 with Quickbooks Desktop installed. I use the UPS shipping app inside QB for printing shipping labels. Took a like bit but it works very good. ... show more

  • Good for home business
My wife runs a small business out of our house and averages about 5-10 orders daily across all platforms such as eBay, TikTok, Etsy, Facebook and her own website. She’s been printing shipping labels and packing slips on our inkjet printer which is Berry time consuming due do print speed and having to swap out paper to labels for every order she has to ship out. This thermal label printer cut down her prep time by 90%. I was amazed by how fast and convenient it is for her to print on this printer vs the ink jet printer. Install was super easy and Arkscan website has lots of videos to guide you step by step for each aspect of the setup which we found supper useful. I highly recommend this thermal label printer to anyone running a small business from home! ... show more

  • Fantastic!
I purchased this for my new business after my orders skyrocketed. It was getting to the point that that I was fulfilling 30+ packages a day & I was really angering people who were standing in line behind me at the post office. I researched various options on Amazon & elsewhere & stumbled across this one. I almost bought a very popular competitor, but decided against it once I saw customers were having major issues with their labels. I opted to spend a little extra for this label printer & I am very happy with my purchase. It has printed hundreds of labels without failing a single time. Every single label is perfect. It's also very fast, which is important. Time is money. I also purchased the Arkscan labels & will continue to do so. If you're looking for a great quality & very reliable label printer, then this is the one. ... show more

  • 2 hours wasted on setup, defective unit
Wasted two hours trying to set this up with tech support over ethernet and they determined it's a bad unit. Amazon wants $8 to pick it up.

  • Your best choice for a 4x6 thermal printer
Of all the products currently on the market, I think this is your best choice, if you're a home or home office user. First, let's start at the top. The top of the heap is Zebra. One of their equivalent units will cost you about $700, so the Arkscan is a lot less expensive. But you really don't want a Zebra if you don't have an IT department to set it up for you. The Zebras were never intended for a non-corporate environment, although you can easily buy one at retail. And, for your $700, you are getting something that is robust, but about the same vintage as Windows 98. And yes, I mean a brand new unit, not something old you might buy. The design of the firmware is about that vintage. Criminey, you can configure one with a parallel port. Parallel port?! You have to be over 50 years old to have even seen such beasts. So, for your SOHO, I don't recommend Zebra. I ruled out Dymo, since they are cheezy junk, and their 4-inch width model needs special label stock, not ordinary. Rollo is being promoted like crazy, but it's another flimsy design with horrible ergonomics. There really is also nothing from Brother or Epson that beats the Arkscan. The Arkscan is not as heavy duty as Zebra, but it's not far behind. And it works mechanically very similar. I think it is a beautiful, very attractive product design. What are the cons? Well, its printer monitor shows you perpetually that you're out of ink. Out of ink?! The unit uses no ink! Also, the documentation is very poor, but tech support is good, so that makes up for it. For some of you, a limitation may be that no hi-rez version is available. The Arkscan is 203 dpi, same as most thermal printers in the market. But Zebra and several other brands have also higher-priced, 300 dpi variants available, Arkscan does not. Myself, I don't think this is a big deal, since most printers are, in fact, 203 dpi. If you will install the Ethernet version, like I did, on a Mac, the procedure is not exactly self-evident. You first have to hook it up and connect it to the Ethernet. Then you download the .pkg installer and install the driver software. Make sure you note the IP address that DHCP assigns to it. The maker tells you that you can't just leave it that way, since it must have a static address. So now you go to http://(your local address). This will throw up the printer's setup menu. Now you must make the address "static," and give it an address. It's best not to use the same one as above, since most routers like to use low numbers for static and high numbers for dynamic. The printer will reboot. Now, you must go and AGAIN run the .pkg install package (yes, this is surely non-intuitive). This allows the new static IP address to be permanently recognized. Finally, go to http://(the new static address) and confirm that everything works. ... show more
