    • Very nice tool with great customer support
This tool is my first foray into code readers that do more than just OBD2. I have been satisfied with my BlueDriver tool for many years, but this adds a new dimension to troubleshooting, and it's not that much more expensive than the BD. The screen is not very large, but it is generally big enough, and it responds pretty well to inputs - sometimes too well when you don't mean to touch it. It's not super fast to read the modules on my old BMWs (could be the cars), but it's not painfully slow, either. The cable is plenty long, and it is really not any more inconvenient than having a bluetooth unit. If you needed to monitor some data streams while working under the hood, then you would definitely need a longer cable. The menus are pretty straightforward and easy to use. As previous reviewers have noted, upgrading the tool before use is a must. This involves going to the settings and erasing the old firmware before upgrading to the latest. (It took me a few downloads before I realized that.) I used this on a 2002 Z3, a 2004 E46, and a 2008 E70 X5. For the two newer cars, the tool read the VIN and found all of the system modules just fine. I verified that it could indeed command various systems for troubleshooting as advertised. But on the Z3, I could not get the tool to find anything beyond the ECM module. This led to a series of emails with ViVian at kingbolen support. Through this helpful exchange, I discovered that BMW put only the ECM on pin 7 of the OBD2 connector, and all others are on pin 8. As it turns out, the Z3 does not populate pin 8 on the OBD2 connector. I went and purchased an OBD2 to 20-pin adapter cable ($15) in order to access the underhood connector. Voila, the tool found the remaining modules! (I was looking for the ABS/DSC module.) All in all, this is a nice tool for the money, and I would recommend it. ... show more

Skeptical at first but this thing blew me away! Tested this against my Autel Mixcom MK808TS, this thing is so fast in comparison. I have always been a little frustrated at how slow the Autel was... I just can't believe what I was missing. I'm putting together a video to show the differences. Overall the device is robust, easy to handle, packed really well. You'll find a manual in the box as well as the OBD2 cable to connect the device to the car. What more could you want :) The massive pros: - Size: This thing is small but powerful, so much more convenient - USB-C: Lets face it, in 2024 you can't release a product with anything else - nice work Launch - Speed: Biggest selling factor by far. Connected it up, auto detected the VIN (make sure you select BMW or Mini vs auto) and it scanned all of the available ECUs in 27 seconds (and pulled all of the faults!). - Scan once: Once it scanned it didn't have to keep going back to the ECU for more information. Other devices can be frustrating on this part - ECU Information: It pulled detailed information about each ECU... Talking dealer level info! - Charging: It charges via the OBD2 port! At first I was frustrated that it wasn't a wireless connection to the OBD2 port. When I realized it was charging the device, all was forgiven! Downsides: - Not wireless: I write this only because of my first reaction. To be honest it's not a real downside. On previous devices I have worked with it had to be wireless as it was so slow. I don't think I will have the same frustrations with the Launch. As the title suggests I've been using it on a BMW E60 M5. Anyone who owns one of these cars understands the need for having a device like this handy. So far very impressed. Very impressed. Especially for the $$ ... show more

This is an excellent product for diagnosing BMW specific error codes. The newer version is faster. I used it to diagnose ABS/DSC error codes which are common with my specific BMW model. I also like the ability to take real time data to further determine the cause of problems. Its very affordable and a great value. ... show more

    • It's slow
It's a capable device but it however takes its time detecting your VIN every time you go to use it... I don't know why it doesn't just save it with everything else. If you're not using it for a customer then it's just an extra step that slows it down. If you're looking for a scanner that can pull up the data that you want very quickly for BMW then stick with their handheld model the creader c310+ as it can do all of the same diagnostics as this model but it doesn't take several minutes to do so. It can take only about 20 seconds versus several minutes for this model I'm reviewing. If you need to do coding for adding any hardware or swapping things out then this is what you'll need instead. However updating it is done exclusively over Wi-Fi and it is painfully slow. It gives instructions to deselect files to download that you don't want however following those instructions doesn't work. It downloads them anyway and won't let you delete them. It's not bloatware it just may be for vehicles that you aren't going to be working on. Just received my Launch PRO Elite v2.0 BMW today but I'm curious why the box shows Creader Elite V2.0 BMW instead and also the website listed is different from LAUNCH website along with the scanner is completely different. Their website cnlauch.com is all in chinese but there is also en.cnlaunch.com website as well. Either way I will be testing it out tomorrow but just playing with the functions and setting up the scanner is pretty easy with wifi. Does take a little time playing with it to fully understand some of the functions and capabilities but nothing difficult. It is compact with 4in touchscreen. I will update after a few test runs with it tomorrow. Hard to beat just the price alone so can't really complain. ... show more
