This paddle good for someone moving up from beginner. You get more spin, control and power. I have had a heavier paddle and liked it. This paddle is light but feels like an extension of my hand. You will like this paddle as you learn more of the game.

I absolutely love this paddle. I originally was using my friend’s Selkirk of the same paddle and finally bought my own. I love how the weight is distributed and the surface still allows for some good spin on the ball. I’ve had it for 3 days and 3 people have already told me they want to get this padd
le next! Fantastic paddle for a relatively cheaper price.

My first impression of the Selkirk EVO MAX paddle was of the contrasting dark paddle face and white edge guard and white handle grip makes for an attractive paddle. Even though one of the selling points is something called SpinFlex Surface, I really don't see anything special about the face of the pa
ddle that can contribute to extra spin capability and during play I didn't feel any additional ability to impart enhanced spin control on the ball. The paddle face is not slick but has a slightly rough feel. There is a slighty raised printed dot pattern on the right 20% side of the paddle face but not across the entire surface so I don't think that is what the "SpinFlex" thing might be. This paddle has a very consistant and solid response during play with an apparently large sweet spot giving you nice control of the ball. If your hands are prone to sweating I recommend wearing a glove as the last inch or so of the handle wrap is smooth a gets quite slippery if your hand is moist. I like this paddle though and will be using it for all my Pickleball play - my other paddles will become spares/backups.

Intermediate Paddle - Less Power, More Control
Color: Blue Hybrid
Size: XL (Elongated Shape)
I'm still new to pickleball and picked this paddle up to see just how different it is from the cheaper paddles. It has a larger surface, longer reach, and is lighter weight than the cheaper paddles I've used so far. But, to my surprise, I actually play better with the cheaper paddles. I suspect that
is because I'm still a beginner and as I become better at the game I will appreciate a more intermediate paddle like this one. Coming from tennis where I tend to overhit, I tend to underhit in pickleball. The cheaper paddles seem to give me more power whereas this paddle is probably designed to trade some power for more control. Overall, I would recommend this paddle for an intermediate player who is looking for a little more control and isn't worried about losing a little power.

My new SLK by Selkirk Evo Control XL 2.0 pickleball paddle arrived yesterday, and I have to say that esthetically, it's a very nice looking pickleball paddle. I played with it yesterday, inside on a wooden gymnasium floor, with an indoor ball. Today, I played outside for two hours with an outdoor bal
l. I've used this paddle for about four hours now and find that I really like it. I feel like my control and power have both improved with this paddle. A lot of my usual backhand shots that would have normally skittered out, managed to stay in. I won more rallies at the net and even managed to ace a few serves. I feel more confident with my game using this paddle. Also, the extended grip feels very comfortable in my hand. For reference, I'm a female, with an exceptionally large hand and with my old standard paddle occasionally I'd take some shots off my hand or fingers instead of the paddle. That situation did not happen with the extended grip on this SLK paddle. I'm a level 3 player, playing with a group of 3 to 3.5 players. I really feel like this paddle helped me have added confidence and hold my own playing against the 3.5 players. I also like that this paddle is really light in weight. I struggle with pickleball elbow (tendonitis) from time to time, and usually during play or when I'm done playing, my elbow and forearm feel fatigued and sometimes a little painful. After playing with this paddle, I have no fatigue or pain in my elbow during or after play. The only thing I have to get used to is I did miss a couple shots due to the paddle not being as wide, but I'm sure with time that won't be an issue, and what I'm gaining in control, power, and confidence is well worth the occasional missed shot. Since I've only used the paddle for 4 hours so far, I can't really speak to the paddle's durability, but so far there are no blemishes on the face of the paddle, it doesn't show any signs of wear, and I'm hopeful it will hold up for a good long time. I'd say for the price, this is an excellent paddle, and I'm super stoked to have it! If I could give it more stars, I would.

Good paddle for beginner or advanced beginners. Not much spin ability for me.
Color: Blue Control
Size: XL (Elongated Shape)
The ergonomics of this paddle are great. The handle is comfortable and a nice length for when you want a second hand on the handle. The balance and weight are good as well. It seems like a fiberglass face and plays with a lot of power and less control for me. The paddle face is not very grippy and I
found it hard to add spin to my shots compared to my usual paddle with a raw carbon fiber face. I think it is a nice paddle but for $100 I think you can probably do better.

I am a pretty casual pickleballer....mostly because I am no longer as young as I used to be but I am still highly competitive. I do look for an edge and pickleball paddles are one place that you can get an edge over other players. For me, the surface of the paddle is at the top of my list as it gives
me more control and ability to spin. At any rate...after having a chance to use this Selkirk EVO Power Hybrid, here are my thoughts: *Handle. Love it...it has a nice soft grip and slight tacky feel to it. Super comfortable. Ultimately, this will get dirty and will need to be cleaned but I can't argue with the color scheme. 5 starts for the handle. *Sweet spot. I tested this out a bit just hitting the ball around my home to get a feel for it and at the time, I thought it was definitely better than average. I swapped out paddles the last time I played and after I went to another paddle, I felt I got some improvement. With that said, the 2nd paddle was double the cost so not really an apples to apples comparison. I do think this hits the ball very cleanly, which over time, is less wear on your forearm and wrist, not to mention a bonus for your game. 4 stars. *Surface. This paddle is on par with those twice the cost....I really like playing with a paddle that has a rough, grippy surface. I tried to get a close up of the surface in one of my pics to show the texture, not sure if you can see what I am talking about. It almost feels like a fine grit sandpaper. I am able to get a ton of spin on my ball with this paddle....5 stars. All in all, I really like this paddle. I wasn't very familiar with Selkirk before getting this paddle, but would definitely buy from this company again. This paddle could be used by anyone from a beginner thru advanced...and might be a good option for you if you're looking for a paddle that has a good sweet spot and lots of control.

Due to the fiberglass layers, this paddle has a bit of a firmer feel. If you like to hit the ball hard, you may like this. I had to go away from harder paddles due to tennis elbow. The face has some texture, and it can produce decent spin. But it trails well behind raw carbon face paddles for spin pr
oduction. If you are a beginner looking for a cheaper paddle you may like this. If you are a more advanced player, or if you put a high priority on spin, you can find raw carbon face paddles that you may like better for the same price. This has the longer narrower shape that is preferred by some advanced players due to the extra reach and leverage it has.

Nice paddle but might not stand out too much for the price.
Color: Blue Hybrid
Size: Max (All - Around Paddle)
I've held and tinkered with many different brands of paddles, and this is my first Selkirk. I had the non-elongated handle, and I'd say it's better for smaller hands. I have big hands, and they still fit, but other paddles have felt better for me. The surface has minimal grit, so don't expect the kin
d of spin you'll get from some other brands and more expensive paddles. Compared to a Joola Journey, this is a little more expensive, but it is also 3mm thicker. The ball pops well off the surface. I have both the hybrid and power versions, and it's hard to tell the difference. They are identical except for the surface material. This might just be in my head, but I would say the Power version maybe had a little more pop. There are a lot of paddles on the market in this price range. I don't think this is a bad paddle at all, but I can't I'm confident it stands out among the crowd.

Beautifully made - Super lightweight - Great control - Pricey
Color: Blue Hybrid
Size: Max (All - Around Paddle)
I'm relatively new to pickleball but I'm always looking to up my game I got this high-end SLK racket because I wanted to see if there really is a difference between a standard $40 paddle and higher end paddles. The answer is yes. This paddle is super lightweight and it's as though I have nothing in m
y hand. I like the grip as it's soft and comfortable I do have I have much more power and ball control over where I placed the ball, as well as the amount of spin I can invoke. The ball snaps off the paddle! Yes this paddle is expensive, but it will definitely improve your game!!

Decent Paddle from a Good Brand
Color: Purple Power
Size: Max (All - Around Paddle)
Selkirk Pickleball paddle. Evo Power Max All-round paddle. Weighs 222.5 g. Version I got is for all-round play, not the extra long version. Has a Carbon Fiber face with Fiberglass internal support. Has a rough texture that allows for some ball spin. Has a plastic edge guard that appears to be tight a
nd doesn't move while swinging. Grip is made of a white leather-like compound that is nice and grippy, with a moderate width. This paddle has a good feel when swinging and ball play has a good feel, unlike other comperably priced no-brand paddles. I suppose it sometimes is good to get an item made by a known manufacturer, as their designs are better thought out than others, even if the units are made in the same production facility. Also, I really like the no nonsense looks of this paddle, with the purple accents.

Good, but perhaps not worth the cost
Color: Blue Control
Size: Max (All - Around Paddle)
I'm still very new to pickleball, and I have a few sets of inexpensive paddles along with this more expensive one. To be honest, I can't tell the difference between them in terms of how they feel or how I play. Perhaps a more experience/advanced player would immediately notice that this paddle is sup
erior. That said, I have no complaints about this paddle. It feels very comfortable in my hand and sturdy when hitting the ball. I'll try to spend some more time directly comparing this paddle to cheaper ones and update this review if I notice some advantage to this one.
