I looked at way too many grow lights before buying and was suspicious that the Spider 1000 would be less than "just right". The delivery was on time and extremely well packed. Instructions were complete, with warranty & contact info. Chart was provided for area coverage at different light heights and recommended height for various purposes. Installation was quick and easy using the provided adjustable hanging cables, two of them that each forked into two cables with hooks at ends that connected to each of 4 corners of the light. I hammered two nails into an overhead joist in my cellar and placed the provided loop from each cable top onto the nails. Done and complete! Then plugged robust power cord into nearby receptacle (location selected for this reason) and light lit brilliantly. Wear welding goggles if you decide to look directly into this light, seriously! Several other Spider 1000 reviews (thanks to each of you for valuable data) used light measuring instruments to discern light qualities & quantities higher than all other grow lights I looked at that were same price as Spider 1000, including some priced twice as much. I placed 6 potted Aleppo peppers (2 gal. pots) under one light, moving them around and pruning a bit to fit all foliage within the chart recommended footprint; adjusted the light 18" above top of plants and left light on 12 hours. This to reward the plants which had been shorter day sun deprived for weeks before being brought inside to avoid the beginning Maine winter. Manually plugged 12 hrs on/unplugged 12 hrs off for three weeks before harvesting peppers, which had continued ripening under this light. Couldn't be more pleased with the product. It is solid and does not produce any noticeable heat in my cellar. No Fan, no noise, simple LEDs, no big deal, well made, long warranty, low power consumption compared to that long list of lights I looked at before buying this one. I bought these for vegetable seedlings. I replaced my old purple lights with these ones and the difference is amazing! My tomatoes are growing faster than previously. They're quiet and very bright. They produce just enough heat to keep the grow tent warm without overheating. I maintain high humidity in my grow tents and haven't experienced any issues with the lights so far. ... show more

Quite a nice light, especially for the price! Looking forward to getting it set over my heat mat for sprouting seeds. This is like bringing in the sun into your room, just for your seeds or plants that you are growing indoors for you and your family to eat or enjoy. Just think, no more cloudy days, or rain storms or hail or deer or anything else disturbing your plants and then never needing to change a bulb on top of it! I really liked how it was packed carefully to cause less damage. And mine was used! It was very easy to assemble and hang. You are given several choices to hang. I personally will be extending my shelves to get a wider lighted area. The more distance you have between lights and plants the wider the light hits. This is good for houseplants.
