  • ... start by saying that my two dogs had a pretty good life
Color: Matte Silver
Let me start by saying that my two dogs had a pretty good life. They have each other, a yard they can access any time of day or night, and copious amounts of petting from a loving family. But after the first 72 hours with our new toy I can tell Petcube is about to make their (and our) days even better. Packaging and Instructions: The packaging is nice and start up instructions are very straightforward. I had small difficulty getting the app to recognize my wifi, but after a few tries it worked out and has worked flawlessly ever since. Connecting to Alexa was not hard an seems to work AOK. Makes giving the dogs a treat from the comfort of my couch a simple task. Functionality: Overall things re working smoothly. It throws only a few treats at a time, so even if I use it a multiple times per day it will not a calorie burden on my pups. The camera is nice and clear, and boost up quickly. The app design is good with the functionality you need and is pretty intuitive. I expect they will clean up some of the UX density over time. Fun: Really fantastic. I love being able to peak into my home, call out and see my dogs run for the room licking up all of the treats. It brings me and my family many moments of joy during the day. Added Bonus: Even though I thought it would be a device I only use while I’m away, I find myself using it just as much when at home. Dogs bring joy to my family and Petcube is there to record the action. It is set up in our family room and has already captured bunches of moments showing us all enjoying Petcube moments. Nice job Petcube, I’m happy you’re here! ... show more

  • Great gadget for pet people
Color: Matte Silver
I am a big fan of this gadget. I hired a dog walker for a few weeks that I was working overtime. I saw the Petcube on sale for $139 and decided it was time. Setup was super easy. Basically just plugged it in, downloaded the app, and hit a few buttons. Placement has been trial and error. Since it's only me and I didn't want to scare the bejeezus out of my dog walker, I haven't had a chance to explore the audio feature much. The camera is shockingly clear; I am very happy with the picture quality day and night. (I don't have a lot of experience with cameras so take this with a grain of salt.) The treat holder drawer holds a lot more than I anticipated (which is a good thing). It does make a bit of noise when the treats are preparing to shoot and my corgi, Zora, was a little afraid at first. She still keeps her distance until the treats have landed. That being said, I love being able to throw out treats and I love that you have the option of scheduling treat dispensing. It's not likely something I will take advantage of but kudos for the thought. I was impressed by the GIFs in the app of recorded interaction. I get notifications of motion and sound as well. My only minor complaint is that when I open the live stream, it sometimes says I am next in line for control (or something along those lines). It's weird because I'm the only one with access. So I have to wait in line behind...me....? It's a minor glitch. There are a few in terms of connectivity. However, overall I'm very satisfied. I think I could get a lot of other people to buy if it was just a little cheaper. ... show more

  • Awesome idea. Horrible, terrible, no good, very bad execution. Buggy beyond belief. Customer Service no help.
Color: Matte Silver
I cannot emphasize enough how frustrating this device is. If it worked correctly, I would give it 5 stars because it is a great idea and has features I miss in similar products. But it is, to put it mildly, buggy, and customer service is not helpful. I had trouble from the get-go. The Petcube would connect to my wifi and stream video, but no matter how many or what kind of treats I put in, it said it was empty. It also had no LED light on. I contacted customer service, who kept asking me what color the LED was (and I repeatedly told them it wouldn't light up at all). Then they told me the machine might not have been getting enough power or wasn't connected to my wifi. This is despite the fact that I kept telling them that I was live-streaming video from it, which obviously meant the machine had both power and wifi. After much more back and forth (which basically amounted to me pushing the reset button over and over again), we finally got the machine working correctly. Fantastic! I loved it! If this had been the end of the story, Petcube Bites would be getting 5 stars from me. But... The next day, I was out and checking in on my pets using the Petcube. Camera worked great, but it wouldn't actually dispense treats. Made all the right noises, but no results. When I got home, I shook it and presumably dislodged a jammed treat. Everything was working again. At this point, I'm still thinking that, if this is the last thing that goes wrong, I would still give it 5 stars. The next day, the LED light goes off again, and it once again says there are no treats. I went online to their "24/7" chat, but learned that what they really mean by that is that you can try to chat, but if there's no one there, you can leave your email address and get a response hours later. I did finally get a response, and then proceeded to email back and forth with customer service for a few days with them asking me to try things and me telling them it still didn't work. They ultimately just stopped responding. No offer for a refund or replacement. No more effort at troubleshooting. Just nothing. I gave up on the machine and just left it alone to deal with after the holidays. To my surprise, it miraculously started working again a few days later. Why? Only god knows. In the meantime, I had placed an order for a second machine just to see if the one I got was defective. Nope - I proceeded to have a host of entirely differently problems with the new machine. I fiddled with that for hours and finally got it connected and streaming, only for it to, like it's brother device, refuse to actually dispense treats. This time, though, shaking it did absolutely nothing. I'm not even going to bother contacting customer service. I already know from my last encounter that they are going to tell me to press the reset button 3 times, hold the reset button down for 8-10 seconds, plug the machine into a laptop instead of the wall, unplug it and plug it in again, and then disconnect and reconnect the camera in my app ad naseum until they just stop responding because they don't know how to fix it. The first one I got has been working properly for 2 days now, but I know it's only a matter of time before something goes wrong again. Thanks to Amazon's holiday return window, I can give this a generous try-out before deciding whether to keep it, but I have zero faith that I'll make it to January 31 without wanting to toss this thing out the window in frustration. (Oh - and both Petcubes came with sample dog treats. Useless for my cats.) ... show more
