I am not the same fit, trim dude I was when we bought our previous folding stool, like...20 years ago. I am 6'1" and 250 lbs. I got up on our old stool recently to change a light bulb and it started creaking and groaning, despite it being rated for 300 lbs. I could just see myself crashing through the top step and breaking my leg (or worse). This stool takes up the same amount of room in our kitchen closet that the old one did, so there is no bulk to it, which I was worried about. But...after stepping up on it, I had zero concerns about it holding my weight. Very sturdy, stable and strong. It locks when open, which some do not, and folds up easily. It was either get a new step stool or back off the cookies and pie...I love the new stool! :) ... show more

this is an awesome step stool, it is as advertised, very sturdy and well made,, this is replacing a 20 year old stool, and i see no reason this won't last that long,, great step stool

    • Sturdy but hard to fold
I find it useful and sturdy, the weight is fine. It's pretty wide so it feels safe. The problem it has, every time I want to fold it back again, I hurt my fingers, the "lock" system is hard to handle and it snaps all of a sudden. I have another 1 step ladder from Costco and it has a button, it's supper easy to fold. ... show more

    • Better Than My Ladder
I bought this to use instead of my 4ft ladder. There is nothing wrong with my ladder other than it's a bit cumbersome in some instances. This stepstool is not. It's easy to open and close. It a much smaller footprint in both the open and closed positions. And finally, it's every bit as strong as my ladder.
