I needed rechargeable table lamps and wanted something with a shade over it. I didn't quite look closely enough so you can take the docked star one of two ways, first the customer didn't look closely at the pictures and thus it's a review of ME. Alternatively, you can look at it as drawing attention to what I consider a flaw in every rechargeable lamp I've found so far in my price range. That is, no matter where you sit, a band of sharp light is going to be visible form it if it's angled correctly to illuminate what's below. I haven't found any lamp without this flaw, so the company's really not to blame, but it IS a problem. The lights are cool though, which allows me to make a paper wrap around shade to cut the glare that comes out from that acrylic strip so that I can use these lamps without getting spots in front of my eyes. I've basically extended the shade so that it operates as a traditional lamp shade would, blocking the sharp light. But....it's fugly taped paper, which kind of ruins the effect of the light. I've included a picture to show what I did. One lamp is as they are, the other with the shade on it, and the cone for the second lamp sitting between them. I might try to craft something better in the future. But I just want something that shines down below and doesn't have a visible strip of brightness at the level of the light itself. (I seem to be light sensitive and this is still better than any item that has a visible blue light when powered on or charging anywhere on its body. Those HURT. At least this only leaves spots in front of the eyes, and I don't think for most people it would be as frustrating as it is for me). This is a good light, good weight, good height, and good illumination below. Other than the problem with the band of light, which all of them have, this is the best set I've had so far. However, manufacturers, if you're looking at reviews, do take this into consideration for future design plans. I know it probably adds a level of complication to inset that acrylic panel just maybe half an inch into the metal shade, but I would dearly love to see a product that took that measure of care. ... show more

I love the finish on this lamp. It’s also heavier than it looks which makes it very steady, not prone to tipping over even in wind. It holds a charge well and the three brightness levels are great. Low for ambiance. High for reading. The only downside is that it takes a long time to charge. I have found so many uses for this lamp. It’s gone camping with me. I use it instead of or in addition to candles on the dinner table. It’s great for extra light during game night. It’s a reading lamp for my porch. So nice to have light without being restricted to where outlets are. ... show more

These are nice little lights. They have three levels of brightness and the light shines straight down to make a light circle of 6 to 8" or so. The lamp glows red when you're charging them and goes out when they're charged. They work really well for lighting a small area while leaving the surrounding area dark.     • Two different experiences with two different lamps.
I waited to write a review on these because one of them had a partial charge right out of the box, and the other one had no charge whatsoever. So I wanted to experiment with them. The first thing I did was to plug them both in to charge, and while the one that had a partial charge was completely recharged (and the red light turned off), in about 4 hours, the one that arrived without an initial charge took over 10 hours to completely charge. After they were completely charged, I turned both of them on (the lowest setting) to see if one lasted longer than the other. They were both on for 25 hours, and still going. But once again, when I plugged them in to charge again, the one with the partial charge on arrival took a few hours to re-charge, while the one that arrived with no charge, took several hours longer to fully charge. Bottom line, I'm not sure why one worked out of the box and charged (and continues to charge) much faster, while the other one is not charging as quickly. The next experiment might be to put them both on a higher brightness setting and see if they both last 24 hours or more. I obviously don't need them to last 24 hours, probably only a few hours at night, but I'd like to know if one of them has a defective battery so I can return it for a replacement. ... show more

I wasn't expecting much due to the low price, so far I am surprised and very pleased. They charge quickly, the charge lasts a long time, they have three brightness levels with a simple tap of the touch sensitive button on top, and they work as advertised which unfortunately you can't always count on these days. They shine the light down on the table surface and not in your eyes. We use them outside on our deck for late evening dinners and in the dining room as well to light up the table surface. They scatter light well 360 degrees with a nice blanket of light without dark spots where you can see what you're eating while still creating a nice mood with lower overhead and ambient light. ... show more

The 2nd thing I really like is that it's not a glaring light that hurts your eyes. -- On high setting, you really can read a book with this lamp. -- On low-medium setting, it'll light up a dining table or small bathroom. -- On medium-high, it'll light up a bedroom or kitchen work area. To me, it looks like an old fashioned candle stick with a black shade. A pair would look very nice on a piano or dining table.
