  • Works well, and it's cute
Pattern Name: 2.5"
This vise does everything that I wanted. The rotation feature is much more useful than I had anticipated. Rotation is smooth and the lock is secure. I haven't yet found a need for the small, flat anvil surface on the moveable jaw yet though. The plastic pads for the jaw surfaces are essential if you are doing fine work like jewelry or building models. Those pads don't fit tight, but they are OK and functional. The big D-shaped pad for the bottom of the cast jaws portion won't hold without adhesive. I secured it using double-stick Scotch tape. The circular pad for the screw at the bottom does snap on and stay by itself. If you appreciate well made tools, you will understand what I mean by cute. The cast metal portions are finished well, with no sharp edges on the outside (inside the jaw area where you shouldn't put your fingers does have some sharp edges). Handles and jaw screw are well-finished. Amazon didn't pack it well for shipping. The vise comes in a small cardboard box with no support material inside. Amazon just put that box in a plastic envelope and tossed it onto the concrete some distance from my front door. The vise had slipped through the bottom of its box, but was not damaged. Maybe if you specify that it is a gift Amazon will put it in an outer box. ... show more

  • Better than expected.
Pattern Name: 3.3" black
I just got this today and I’m pretty impressed right off the bat. I didn’t have my hopes very high because my other small vices needed to be fixed up a bit, which isn’t a problem if you know that when you order it. But this is actually better than I expected. The piece that locks it into position (stops it from rotating) doesn’t lock very well though. I also don’t like that the handle locks into position in the working area of the jaws. Big pieces will bump into it. These aren’t a problem for me for though. I also thought the quick release would cause problems but it’s a feature that I quickly changed my mind on and now I wouldn’t order one without. The jaw covers are better than expected too, I thought I was just going to end up tossing them but they actually work well and worth spending the couple bucks extra for. I wish I would have bought this sooner. I will update this post immediately if I change my mind on recommending it. ... show more

  • Great small Vise
Pattern Name: 3.2"
Purchased this vise to have something to slip on to my portable workbench when needed. I was taking on a project to re-grip my golf clubs, and that was the final straw to make this purchase, as I'd had other times where it would've been helpful to have a small vise around. This worked great to hold my clubs (with the use of a shaft clamp so I didn't damage them) while I cut and pulled and pushed to get old grips off and new ones on. Exactly what I needed, and it is small enough for me to take off of my portable workbench and put away, and simple enough to pull out and mount. It was solid the whole way. The only nitpicks were that the little protective sleeves that were provided to sit on the vise arms didn't fit too solidly/neatly.. they were prone to slide off more than I would've wanted, but it was not a huge deal.. also the locking mechanism that locked the vise from rotating wasn't always super secure, but I had to pull/push pretty hard to cause it to rotate un-necessarily. Overall very very happy with this purchase. I got through my club re-gripping thanks to this, and I know I will have plenty of future use for it. ... show more

  • Solid bench vise but you will need to replace the M10 Carriage bolt
Pattern Name: 4.5" black
Solid bench vise but you will need to replace the M10 Carriage bolt that locks down the "swivel" feature. The one shipped with the vise is too short so it does not lock down well. I had to buy a M10 x 40MM length bolt with a thick washer. After that it worked perfectly.

  • It is what it looks like it is - a light duty, low cost vice
Pattern Name: 2.5"
I grabbed this to mount on the back of my flat bed truck when I need to file a chainsaw. I knew it was light duty by looking at the photos and the price. I just need something I can toss in the toolbox and bring out when I need to file a saw. I grabbed a return for 20 bucks! It arrived with nothing wrong with it. I tried it out once and it held my 395XP with a 36" bar & chain with no problem. After sharpening the saw, I tossed it back in the toolbox. If this holds up, then it was money well spent. I suppose you could saw, I got a return on my money already, and just the one sharpening for the job I did payed for itself. I was alone and no way could I hold the saw and sharpen it on my own. With that said, it's still exactly what it looks like it is. Don't expect to be able to screw it down super tight and start smacking something in a vice. This is not a "real vice" this is just something to hold something still for you, like a chainsaw bar so you can sharpen the chain for hold a piece of wood so you can clue it together or something like this. If you need a "real vice" this ain't it! If you thought it would be for 20 - 30 bucks, then you're probably a young buck and don't have things figured out just yet lol. A "real vice" for the shop is going to set you back much more than this, OR you might find one at a yard sale or flea market for such prices too. Though those are going to be much heavier an might not want to haul around in a truck all the time, but more for a work bench at home. This is a light duty little holding device, for simple, basic tasks where not much "real man power" for heavy duty, real man jobs need to be done, but light duty, extra hand that a lady could provide you with. For 20 bucks, it is what I expected it to be. If it breaks soon though, just holding a bar for my chainsaw, I'll report back when it fails. Until then, assume it's still holding my chainsaws while I file them. I rated the device for price point. I'll knock stars off, based on how long it lasts. If it lasts as least 6 months for commercial use in my tree service though, I can't knock that. I'd just shell out a few more bucks for a more rugged one. I wanted to try a light duty one first, to see if it's all that's needed for chainsaw sharpening. I suspect it will be. Until you see an update, I've been right. ... show more

  • just what I needed
Pattern Name: 2.5"
simple but just what I needed. Sturdy and seems well made. easy to set up. The plastic jaw covers are not perfect and don't sit well but they work and probably not needed in most uses. Very pleased.
