For years, my 6 year old has had a love hate relationship with his bikes and training wheels. He’s a solid boy, and wobbly training wheels just made him scared he’d fall over. Sometimes he’d get brave and try riding, but mostly he refused to even try. This bike is the best option for him. It’s sturdy, easy to ride, and now he’s so proud that he can coast along, balancing! Literally, after years with training wheels, in one weekend he’s a completely different kid when it comes to riding. We’ve gone around our block several times a day - he just wants to ride. I love it! This was super easy to assemble (although I’m still not sure what to do with the handlebar pad, no instructions for that), tires come needing air but I’m pretty sure that’s standard, and it’s tough enough I was able to coast on it. My boy is 51” so he’s at the max height, and weighs 100 lb. And it’s fun for older kids - my 5 ft. tall daughter kept stealing it from her brother. So, even the long legs can sit on it. I realized there weren’t many reviews here and needed to leave a review because my son loves this bike. My 6 year old son didn’t pick up on his strider bike when he was young and then refused to use it now that he wants to learn to ride since it’s the strider bike is for “babies”. We tried to go the route with a pedal bike and take the pedals off but they don’t work the same as a traditional balance bike. This is the first time he has been excited about learning, he’s picking it up quicker with this vs when we were trying with a pedal-less regular bike, and this bike is to thank. In general, this bike was really easy to put together. I will say that the handles come with a cap at the bottom that needs to be removed before you can attach it to the rest of the bike. Other than that, the rest is pretty much straightforward. The bike is built of durable material on a very sturdy frame. The kid loves it, and he will be able to ride it for a couple of years with how big it is. We plan to take it to a bike shop and add pedals on when he is better at balancing. This is a really nice little balance bike that has the cool factor of being more of a BMX style. So if your kid has been excited by seeing "Strider Riders" at BMX races, they'll love it! The assembly was pretty easy. There are little grip pads on the sides for resting feet. There's a nice little neoprene pad at the middle of the handlebars for protection and the hand grips are great. The headset and seat adjust easily. No, there aren't brakes, but that's not the point of a strider...you just want your kid to get a feel for balancing without training wheels. It is an okay bicycle for the price, but it lacks some important fixtures, brakes, and something for the kids to rest their feet on when going downhill. Also, my little one got bruises on both legs. I don't know if it is from the rear wheel bolts or the stickers at the bottom.
