  • The ladder that you love to hate.
So I got this ladder because I am a home inspector. I often inspect Houses that do not have a pull down ladder for the attic access. I am giving this item 3 stars because it does exactly what I need it to do, I just wish it did it better. Traditional A-frame ladders are too big and scuff the walls. Smaller A-frame ladders are too short when you set them up. This ladder fits my needs and compacts small enough to fit in my trunk. I do not need a roof rack, and I can carry it with me all the time. I have had other extension "A-Frame" multi positional ladders before and there are some things to consider before buying this particular ladder. The 4 gripes I have about this ladder are as follows. 1. There is no master extension release. This ladder requires you to work 2 individual releases for each and every step. It would be nice to have a single latch to use. 2. The position of the release latches are dangerous. There are several warning labels all involving the use of the extension release latches. In order to use them you must grasp each side of the ladder and push in the switches with your thumbs, and the weight of the ladder causes the step to retract. Because the latch for each step is located below each step, the ladder retracts as a uncontrolled fall. I can see how someone could easily pinch the skin between their thumb and index finger. The manufacturer is clearly aware of it judging from the effort they put in to warrn you of doing exactly that. 3. The positional lever is in a terrible location. Other ladders that allow for multiple use functionality have a realese on the exterior or the ladder. This unit comes with a flimsy wire lever that extends over the top of a step. You actually end up stepping on the lever that controls if your ladder as an A frame or Single frame extension ladder. The lever should be longer so it runs under the step you are intended to use so as not to break or engage the lever while the ladder is in use. 4. The ladder does not lock in the retracted formation. It instead comes with a flimsy velcro strap that goes around the rungs of the ladder. I don't mind the functionality of the velcro strap as I do the strength of the velcro they chose. It is not very strong and the ladder rungs either end up pinching your fingers or the velcro let's loose and extends onto your foot. Both of these have happened to me. ... show more

  • Snow Fox 16.5 ft Telescoping Ladder
The ladder comes in very handy because of its compressed size and A frame ladder capability. Although it has a strap that "velcros" around the rungs to hold them in place for transporting, it would be better if two separate straps were used, one for each half of the ladder when it is folded and a lock in the hinged fold to hold the halves together tight just as it does when used as an A Frame. With two straps, when trying to expand one half, the other half is held in place by the second strap. Also, when folded, a secure locking position in the folding hinge would hold the ladder together much more securely. Another issue is when being used as a 16.5 foot extension ladder, when collapsing the rungs, if you are not careful and have your finger resting on the rung when pressing the locks in with your thumb, the rungs below the hinge will collapse and smash your finger. however, when collapsing the rungs above the hinge, since they collapse below the rung, you just have to hold the rails of the ladder and lower the extended part of the ladder manually while pressing the rung locks in. Overall the ladder works well but you need to pay attention when using. It is quite flexible and bends a lot when extended and might seem a bit daunting if you are not used to so much flexibility. I gave it four stars instead of three mainly because it is so compact and easy to store...very handy if you don't have plenty of storage area or want to carry it around easily in a vehicle. ... show more

  • Ladder rungs do not lock in the down (non-telescope) position.
Seems like a pretty good ladder, good height and rungs lock in easily when extended. However, when collapsed, the rungs do no lock in the down position, so unless it is picked up by the bottom rung, the ladder will begin the telescope. There is a Velcro strap that wraps around the bottom to top rungs, but the Velcro is weak and will not hold the rungs together if picked up by the top rung. ... show more

  • Avoid at all cost!
Avoid! Doesnt lock in the down position.....locks are cheap...very unstable when in a frame position.....very bulky....and cheaply made.

  • Safety issue
Safety issues, the tabs do not lock in place, you have to double and triple check each rung to insure they are locked In place. You cannot check them without applying weight or force to each rung. Terrible design. It is lightweight for a 16 ft ladder, but use with extreme caution.

  • Love It
I love how small it folds up (can fit in my corolla), yet it extends out into this huge ladder. It was exactly what I needed to trim ta hedges and trees and change light bulbs on tall ceilings. It is working very well for my needs. A normal ladder can't fold up this small. I love it.

  • Convient to use
Like the size when collapsed. Easy to extend and collapse. Foldable joint is great.
