Installed 2 of these in the floor of my enclosed cargo trailer. When not in use, we clip the male end to the frame with a binder clip. When in use, i.e. camping, we plug in to shore power and now have powered outlets inside for heater, lights, etc. These are really nice.

I have a few minor electrical needs outside of my house. One is a heated door mat out of the service door of my garage that leads to the dog run and I added a plug to run seasonal Christmas lights so I do not need to run extension cords under my garage door like I had for the previous three years. Since I wanted to keep the cedar siding largely intact I elected to build a simple wood mount out of Cedar 2x4. With the plug in the mount I was able to drill through the siding to route the cable inside the garage and plug in an attention cord from there. (Photo of my first install - the second one is better... I had practice... BTW the other cables in the photo are my dog fence and sprinkler control lines. An even cleaner install would have been to drill a large mount hole in the cedar but the siding is hard to find and even harder to replace if you want to take the plug out later. Caulked of the mounts and the cable holes to prevent weather and bugs from getting into my garage. This was a good solution for me. My wife was hesitant for me to add a new electrical box when and extension cord will do. This was a good meet halfway solution. If affords a much cleaner, less intrusive and if desired a fully reversible solution to running extension cables out a door. Also I have the Christmas lights plugged into a WiFi enabled plug inside my garage. Has a timer and I can turn on and off my holiday display lights from my iPhone. ... show more
