    • Easy to install in spite of vague directions. Need special tool for brick.

These are light and easy to handle. Mine came with vague instructions about measuring and drilling mounting holes. Then, I noticed that there were rings marking where the ho.e d were supposed to go. But the rings were on the back side. I drilled the holes. No problem, except I dropped one and it got an ugly scrape. The plastic is pretty soft. Next, I mark ed where to drill holes in the brick wall that I was mounting the shutters on. I had gone out and bought a new drill and a masonry bit. But, what happened was the drill was taking a very very long time to make a hole. Luckily, a neighbor is a contractor. He clued me in that I neede a "hammer drill" to go with the masonry bit. I had bought just a regular drill. What I bought would have taken around 2 hours to drill the holes. My neighbor whipped out his hammer drill and had them done in about 5 minutes. So, these are OK shutters, but If you are mounting to brick, figure in the cost of buying or renting a hammer drill if you don't already have access to one or what shou.d be a 15 minute project will probably take all day. ... show more

Image needed to be enlarged quite a bit to see there is adesign on top and bottom of shutter. I specifically was looking for a straight- no design edge. These are same as available at Home Depot and Lowe's. No response from seller or Amazon to get returned.

Wife and I looked around and decided that these were the best price on the market for what we were looking for and the size we needed. I was a bit cautious because they are made of plastic but let me tell you I was pleasantly surprised at how durable and strong they appear to be. I installed these on vinyl siding and brick and the anchors that came with them worked just fine and I am not worried about them coming loose. Follow the installation instructions and you will have no issues. I did drill the holes in the shutters first and placed it on siding where I wanted it while my woods held it from the inside of the house, I marked the location of the holes on the siding and brick where I needed to drill with a black sharpie marker. Now for the brick, it did take more time to drill into obviously but the anchors are holding just fine. ... show more

Introduction: My house is nearly 30 years old. During a recent heavy windstorm, a piece of vinyl siding was pulled away from my house and damaged my vinyl shutters. Fortunately I did not have any other shutters in the front of the house so I had flexibility in picking out a replacement. Pros: The color and size of the desired shutter was available from many sellers. I chose this product based upon the user ratings. The quality of the shutters appeared good. The installation was relatively straightforward. Cons: The plastic screws that came with the shutters were weak and broke during installation. We ended up purchasing metal screws we felt more confident with. Misc: The new shutters looked like they belonged with the house. Conclusion: I recommend this product. ... show more
