I bought this mattress for my spare bedroom. It's perfect for that purpose. Guests have said that it's comfortable — I have no complaints! There was a slight off-gassing smell when I first unboxed the mattress, but it didn't last long. (I've had worse!) The mattress unfolded easily and fluffed up quickly. Although I haven't spent a night on the mattress myself, I did lie on it to see how comfortable it was. I can tell that I wouldn't want to use it as my regular mattress. I can feel the "bones" of the mattress — the springs and frame — when I lie on it. It's only slight, but I think with regular use, particularly by a heavier adult, the mattress wouldn't hold up for long before these "bones" started making it uncomfortable to sleep on. I haven't bought a new mattress in about 24 years. I had some lower back pain that was getting to be a problem. I decided to take some advice from colleges and try a new mattress. I didn't like the prices for what was available, but I did find this mattress. I wasn't sure if it would be right for me. I ordered the firm mattress and was able to set it up (it expanded immediately). I gave it 30 hours before I tried it and it was very comfortable. Excellent lumbar support! I purchased the medium 12” queen mattress because I didn’t want it too firm. It’s the perfect balance and it alleviates my back pain. when I opened the mattress there was no smell. I slept on it after only letting it rise for 30 min. No problems at all.
