I bought this to replace the broken original umbrella holder. The clamp on this holder to the golf cart is made of metal and anchors in place so well. Better than the original. It has two plastic screws that holds umbrella as well but the only issue is the plastic that attaches to the screws occasionally comes off. This works great with my Bag Boy Nitron. My only concern, and it may be true for all umbrella holders, is that it seems to struggle in light breezes and/or bumpy terrain. It was easy to assemble and holds the umbrella tightly.

This umbrella holder is a really cool accessory. I'm sure it could be attached to something other than a bike but for now, I only plan to use it for that. My first reaction was to dislike the method of attachment to my pull cart, but after looking at the competition, it seems as good as everyone else's or better. The unit's instructions show it coming with 4 screws, but it came with an additional 4 screws that are 3/4" longer - I assume if you had a very large diameter bar to attach to, this would be useful. The screw assembled items are made of cast aluminum and quite robust. The remainder is plastic. The handle of one's umbrella is secured by 2 triangular clamping knobs. Having 2 clamping points keeps the umbrella handle more stable. The two large round knobs allow one to adjust the umbrella angle front to rearward or left to right. The issues I have are: Triangular umbrella securement knobs can be difficult to unscrew especially since the two knobs are relatively close and instead on putting your palm over a knob to unscrew, you need to use your thumb and index finger and possibly middle to unscrew. Even before applying any pressure on the umbrella handle, the knobs require a fair bit of torque to move the clamping mechanism. Unfortunately, I have no way of quantifying this, but it is not trivial. Once secured it gets tighter. I found it fairly tough to unscrew and people with weaker hands may find this an issue. Furthermore, having two knobs to loosen, one's knuckles interfere with the other knob. Perhaps another 1/2 " gap apart would alleviate that issue, or in general, design it so one can use your full hand to secure and loosen. Limited headroom under the umbrella when installed. It appears to be roughly 6' clearance, so if taller than that you will need to duck. Looking online, I hadn't seen anyone else's design that addresses that. I would have liked the lowest knob on the holder that attaches to the metal assembly to be captured. I don't intend to have the full assembly together most of the time, as I don't plan on using my umbrella except on very hot days or when raining. So, I will pack the rest of the assembly in my bag. I would like to have had the lowest knob captured so that I don't have to worry about it separating from the rest of the assembly. A relatively minor issue. ... show more
