This back brace is by far the most comfortable I have ever worn. It is very thin and breathable, yet provides excellent support. The base material is nylon and spandex. The XL is 8 1/2” tall at the center back and 5” at the front ends. The ends are rounded with 2” of high quality hook tape on one end and 10 3/4” of loop securely sewn down on the other end, so you have quite a bit of room for adjusting. The outer straps are 33” long unstretched x 4 1/2” tall, sewn centered in the middle back. The ends are rounded with 1 7/8” hook tape sewn on each inside, which attaches to the 10 3/4” which is on the front outer side of each inner belt end. The 6 stays are firm yet slightly flexible and are heat sealed about 2” apart across the back of the brace. The 4 inner stays are 7 1/2” long and the 2 outer stays are 6 1/2” long. I find them short enough that they do not stab me either in the hips or chest when sitting. They have printed and 'up' arrow on one end so you know the proper orientation for the belt. It comes with a padded removable lumbar pad which can be attached at the interior center back by hook and loop tape. Although the belt is intuitive to wear, they provide clear instructions on how to adjust. It washed up beautifully and air dried quickly. It provides me with good support when my low back is aching. The stitching is smooth and even with no skips, pulls, or loose threads. This belt hugs my curves and provides me with excellent relief. It fits so well I forget I am wearing it. ... show more

I've been using a neoprene "wrap" to remind me to sit up straight but it creates a lot of sweat, a bit bulky and can't be worn all day. This item is true to size, smooth and breathable. I've worn this all day without any problems. Brace has "boning" support, like in a women's corset, not too soft or hard. If more support is needed then that would likely be a "metal brace" which you should consult your Doctor and are "not fun" when going through "security checkpoints". The removable Lumbar Pad is very good, you can move it up or down to target a more specific area, or remove it all together. Overall a good product ... show more

    • Extender tab was missing, but that's ok for us. Brace feels good and I love the tension adjusters.
The info said there would be an extra tab for extending the size. Not there -- which for us is not a deal breaker. The snug fit feels great when you put it on and then the tension adjusters on each side come into effect. That's what really makes it a brace. It holds a pressure cushion right against the small of your back and kind of massages it as you move. I left it on for a few hours and found no discomfort. It was outside my shirt, so not against my skin. The firm hold it gives is not too much that it keeps you from moving normally -- but still enough to let you know there is something there. There are days I will use this when I'm kitchening for hours. Then I will be able to know its' true worth. LOL ... show more

This brace has its pros and cons based on my experience. You may find that the listed "cons" are not relevant to your situation. But do consider the following: PROS: - Lightweight - Can be fitted closely to the body, not bulky - Includes a small triangular lumbar pillow that can be positioned as desired CONS: - The neoprene-type fabric can be very warm if worn for extended period, does not breathe - I would have liked the triangular pillow to have been a bit larger for greater pressure where needed - The center back portion could have been wider in the middle This is such a personal device, it just wasn't great for me. But it could be highly effective for you depending on the severity of back pain and how long you need to wear it for. ... show more

This is remarkably soft to the touch. The attachments are NOT traditional bulky, scratchy velcro but are very thin, in line with the rest of the ultra-thin fabric. I'm very short-waisted and have a little scoliosis and sciatica. My pain is in my lower back (L5). This brace was comfortable and helpful while standing most of the day the first time I tried it. Day 2, after I'd been sitting awhile I became uncomfortably aware of the stays. That's not a reason to knock a star off a 5-star product, but just how I'm built and where my pain is (L5). This will be great to wear on days I know I'll be on my feet a long time. I definitely could feel the support.
