  • An arsenal of sounds for guitarists!
I freaking love this board and would buy it again in a minute. Version 3 of the firmware added more amps, cabinets, and effects. It's a huge library to customize your sound. The built in patches really show off what this board can do. Very precise tuner - one of the best and easiest I've used. It's built very solidly. Very customize-able; you can change the contrast of each display independently. There are 64 drum patterns that you can adjust the tempo of. I find them GREAT for pushing me towards new styles & techniques. Most importantly, it sounds GREAT. ... show more

  • Unusable
Ive been playing guitar for 50 years and have used all kinds of pedals and processors. The first thing everyone talks about in these reviews is the sound quality or how many tones the thing can make, but none of that means a thing unless the device is usable. I play every day and I have had this zoom processor for 3 months, so plenty of time to get to know it. The preset tones are good although 50% are too over the top to use. My problem with this thing is modifying presets. You have to get on your hands and knees to operate little buttons and knobs that are next to the 4 video screens. You will be scrolling through cabinets and suddenly it turns to reverb or some other effect. You dont know what a knob does until you turn it, then the screen lights up and you can see what you are adjusting. Its way too much trouble, and the people who designed this thing definitely are not players. Another problem is the use of a million abbreviations that Ive never seen. Theres no key or explanation for the abbreviations, i guess you are just supposed to know. Another case of nitwit engineers making assumptions. There is an anything but intuitive 3 or 4 step process to save your changes as well. As far as building your own tones, first they want you to recognize an array of little boxes on the main screen. How you are supposed to know this box means compressor and this box means reverb i dont know. Maybe you are supposed to study the shapes with flash cards, ridiculous. If you want to add one you scroll along a chain of little boxes and insert it with a 3 or 4 step process. The little boxes are not discernable from a standing position either. It would be helpful if they listed the effect instead of using little boxes to identify it. The wah cannot be used unless it is programmed into the preset. I had a digitek that all you had to do is click the pedal and you use the wah then click it off, easy. If you want wah that isnt already on that effect you find the little box and insert it and go through a bunch of tedious steps, and then its permanently in that preset and cant be turned off. Stupid. The looper has no business being on this device. Looping has nothing to do with effects but the zoom engineers dont know that. What good is a loop that is 2 minutes long? Its junk. I wouldnt buy this thing for $100 because it is so poorly designed that its unusable. ... show more
