I've had this for a couple of months now. I bought this to use as a foundation to lay my mattress on (not as a box spring, which is the other application). I wanted a low-profile bed because my dachshunds like to jump on and off the bed (they won't use pet stairs) and I was worried they'd hurt themselves on our old, much higher bed. I LOVE this thing! It was SO simple to put together- my husband and I had it together in 10 minutes, and it really wasn't even a two-person job. We're both overweight, and it's so sturdy! I was always worried about the slats breaking on our old bed- a few of them had cracked! This one is all metal and the slats are very close together, making it super supportive and strong. The one thing I was worried about was creaking noises because it's all metal, but it makes no noise whatsoever, ever. I will say that it firmed up my mattress quite a bit. I invested in a new, top-of-the-line mattress and was a little surprised by how firm it is on this support system (it was much softer on my old, traditional bed frame with box spring), but I got used to it. Whenever we need a new mattress, I plan on purchasing a much softer one to go with this bed. Using a box spring would probably help, but it would raise the height too much for my dogs, so I'm just dealing with the firmness. Overall, this thing is great! This item consists of 2 parts, the box spring and the cover. The boxspring part of the product is just fine and easy to assemble. However, as several other customers commented, the cover enclosed with our king sized bed boxspring didn’t even come close to fitting. I really didn’t think I needed the cover until the sheets wouldn’t stay tucked in with only the metal frame. I called the Zinus customer support number multiple times over a couple of weeks to request one that would fit. The recording makes you think they will answer but even after a lengthy hold time you end up having to leave a message and they never returned any of my calls. I order from Amazon a lot and have never had a single problem that was not resolved but when I contacted them, they said they could not send a “part” as it was packaged as two items and my only choice was to return the item. The box Is gone and it is a heavy time that required assembly with probably 20 metal pieces and 40 screws, so returning it is not very feasible. I would NOT purchase from this seller again!!! ... show more

Was delivered damaged and can’t get the company to replace the part. Will update review as situation progresses. So far very unhappy with Zinus UPDATE- after a week and a half of emailing them and our daughter not able to sleep in her bed, they finally told us to return the entire thing to Amazon and buy again, replacing the bent metal piece. No thank you. We will be returning it and NOT repurchasing. Natalie was zero help. Zinus provided a damaged product and terrible customer service. We are very disappointed. ... show more

This is an amazing product. Took about 20 minutes to assemble. It comes with a cover but I don't use it. The metal slats are less than 3.5 inch apart. It may be hard to find the instruction manual and the screws as it is tucked away and hidden from view. It is supposed to be a box spring, but I use it as a bed frame. Love it! ... show more

This is a really nice bed platform. It took me about 45 minutes to put it together, zip on the fabric cover and place it inside my bed frame. It's very solid and has about 3" spacing between slats, so it can support a regular mattress, memory foam mattress, or any of the new mattresses that are shipped in boxes. Very excited about the support it provides, how solid it feels, and that it does not squeak or make any noise when you lay on your bed. If anyone is ever in the market for a platform bed OR boxspring, I HIGHLY recommend this, ESPECIALLY for short ppl, or special needs ppl, or if you use a wheelchair or just need your bed to not be as high. It comes in twin, full, Queen, ( this one) and King. No silly wood slats that can break. This is tough and sturdy and can be used with a bedframe as the boxspring, because, it really IS the boxspring. .Or also as a platform ( what my daughter needs)and skip the frame and boxspring ( since it is a boxspring in disguise. It can be used for a regular innerspring mattress, or a memory foam mattress. I believe it supports up to 500 lbs, including the weight of the mattress. This ranges in price depending on size. This is Queen Size. This was $119 free shipping thru Amazon. It is very sturdy and feels and looks like it cost a lot more than $119. It was way too easy to put together..so easy, that there were not even written instructions. The only instructions were an illustration of where the bars and rails are placed, and which size screws to use. 16 screws, and the slates pop in. The metal slates are close together. The tool to put it together is included. There are even a few extra screws marked as extra parts*.It comes with a fabric encasement cover, zippered. It is optional and not necessary to use. Also, the black metal of this bed is very modern BUT, if you are using this as a platform bed, this can be used with virtually ANY decor because the item is so discreet. My adult daughter ( this frame is for her bed) has antique/shabby chic girly decor and this does NOT clash. Also, if you go up a size for your quilt or bedspread, you wont even see it. Oh, and, from what I read, this platform frame is not compatible for headboards or footboards, but my daughter is not into that anyway. She is special needs and will permanently use a wheelchair and this frame, with her new 11" mattress, is perfect. She also needs to be closer to the ground in case she would accidentally roll off. she is pretty good about not letting that happen, but accidents happen. Her mattress is 11" deep but if you have a younger child, who has special needs or physical limitations, you can get a mattress thats only 6"-8" deep..just a heads-up if you are, or know, a person who has physical disabilities or limitations who needs something closer to the ground.
