  • Use warm water
Color: SM7B Windscreen
I wrote this as a product question, but Amazon deleted it. It will arrive crushed, but hold it under warm running water and squeeze it a few times like a sponge, and it will quickly return to the proper shape. Let it dry and you’re good to go. It’s a bit loose, but I held it in front of a hair dryer to tighten it up. It blocks the plosives quite well. ... show more

  • Works great with Shure MV7 mic
Color: SM7B Windscreen
Really pleased with this pop filter so far. I'm using it with a Shure MV7 (which is essentially a USB+XLR mini version of the SM7B). The MV7 is an excellent mic but notoriously sensitive to plosions. Replacing the inadequate foam screen it comes packed with is a must. Thankfully, windscreens designed for the SM7B fit it perfectly, and make a HUGE difference in sound quality. And, additionally, they make the MV7 look like a SM7B, which just gives your production suite a more pro appearance. I swap between two different windscreens depending on my usage. When I'm on camera, I use the Shure RK345 foam. It looks great (just like the SM7B), and sounds way better than the included MV7 foam. But it doesn't block all the plosives and is better suited to off-axis speaking a short distance from the mic. I use this larger, rounder foam pop filter for voiceovers where I talk close up on the mic. There's a noticeable improvement in plosive blocking over the RK345, and it's lightyears better than the MV7's included foam. I achieve that nice, clean, flat-but-warm NPR / audiobook narrator sound, and can get that Roman Mars signature warm-and-wooly tone, too. It's very easy to swap the foams. With a baseline level of care, this should last a very long time. Recommended. ... show more

  • Cheaper and poorer-fitting than expected
Color: SM7B Pop Filter
While this was cheaper than a genuine Shure replacement, it was a bit disappointing, even for the low price. It was thin, and not form-fitted at all. It came folded in half, flattened, and fits somewhat like a loose sock. I haven't yet had the opportunity to test the audio qualities of the foam, itself. However, the last time I got a replacement for this mic (seems every few years the foam goes bad) it was a much higher-quality item in terms of form, construction and shape. The previous one also had a fitting ring. This product had none; it just is a piece of foam, loosely fitting around the inner frame. I gave it 2/5 as it does seem to more or less perform the purpose for which it was intended, just is a cheap, poor quality substitute for the original. UPDATE - I lowered this to one star, because I realized the screen falls right off the microphone, when in an inverted position (which is often how the SM7 is mounted on a boom). No way to make it fit better, that I can see. Therefore, it's mostly useless. ... show more

  • Covers the mic, but isn't a 1 to 1 for the original.
Color: SM7B Pop Filter
It's fine as an SM7b pop filter, and it covers the mic, but is very flexible, not semi-rigid like the original, and needs some finessing to fully cover. Price would have been a great deal: IF it had been what I expected. As stands, it's a bit pricey for what I got.

  • Saved me a pile of dough.
Color: SM7B Pop Filter
If you use SM7 mics, as I have in my studios for decades, you know what it costs when the inevitable happens and your wind sock gets groady. During the pandemic we used a lot of Lysol on everything in the studio. It really took its toll on the foam. I tried this product and didn't expect much, it was so inexpensive. But I can tell you I am delighted with the results. I can now afford to have shelf spares and to change the foam as often as it should be changed. We could discern no change in sound. The mics perform like OEM foams are attached. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • You get what you pay for.
Color: SM7B Pop Filter
Good price, fits well, but not the quality of a genuine Shure product.

  • Exactly what I needed
Color: SM7B Windscreen
This is compatible with the MV7, as I read online, fits well and does not fall off on its own. Was not stinky out of the package and was not crushed beyond repair. No complaints for the sound, does it job well. No more plosives. The stock foam of the mv7 is trash.
