EDITED: Originally rated this 5 stars. But then it broke the 5th time we used it, sending $2000 in shotgun mics smashing into the ground from 10 ft up. It was holding a pair of Sennheiser medium-length shotgun mics on a dual-mic mount, each with a shockmount, on a 7ft carbon fiber boom pole. Luckily the "ground" was rocky forest floor and the mics barely missed the rocks. Post disaster analysis revealed that the upright "post" is welded to the curvy bit with two SMALL, CRUMMY spot welds, one on each side. These welds broke under the leverage of the two mics and boom pole. ... show more

This boom holder completely snapped after my second time using it. It almost caused my boom to hit talent on the head. It's better to spend a little more and get something that will last. The one I had before this one I bought locally and lasted 8 years I just gave it to someone in need. This one couldn't last 2 weeks. Then I asked for a refund but never got a response ... show more

This is such a basic tool. And it's not like the pressure on that weld is any big deal. Seriously, it's a boom pole a mic and some cable. Worst purchase I've made in years.

Cheap weld where stem and holder meet. Snapped off without any pressure. Glad I hadn’t mounted my $1200 shotgun microphone and $600 boom pole. Not a reliable piece of gear.
