  • Fit is aweful, pants are made well.
Size: 33W x 32L Color: Antique Indigo
Note: I would give this 3 stars, but nobody reads 3 star reviews and I am trying to help people understand how they fit. Design wise, these are great pants. I wear a tape measure often and the reinforced pocket is perfect. I would add more pockets on the legs for pencils, tools, etc. ON FIT - I am slim from the waist down (belly not withstanding!) I bought 3 pair of 33/32 in various colors. These pants fit perfect at the waist when standing, but the waist gets pretty tight when bending, stooping, or sitting; and there is no give/stretch at all in the waist. I found myself uncomfortable and constantly pulling at the top button. Normally, I would just buy the next size up and wear a belt, but the problem is that I could fit two of my legs in one leg hole of these pants. My legs are swimming around in all the extra material. If you have thighs nearly as big as your waist, these will be great for you... but, for those of us that are not body building our thighs and calves, these are like parachute pants from the 80s. They also seem to run a little long. ... show more

  • Ehhh....not as good as I originally thought
Size: 36W x 30L Color: Bark
This is my second review and a follow-up to my first review. I originally gave these pants a four-star rating, but now I’m dropping that to three stars. I said before that the pants were holding up well under all of my workloads (facilities maintenance), but almost as if it were divine intervention— the pants have started to show a lack in durability since posting my last review. Don’t get me wrong. For the price point that I paid (about $25-$30 per pair), they still aren’t too bad. But I am going on about four months now of wearing three pairs interchangeably, and they are starting to exponentially wear out. On one pair, I had a bush branch poke a hole through the calf portion of the the right leg. The hole has continuously gotten bigger and bigger with each passing day. These pants are certainly not true “ripstop” pants, though they look like it at a glance. On all three pairs, I have seam threads coming apart at all of the pockets, but especially the back pockets. I was definitely hoping to see at least a good six months before seeing these signs of wear, but I do understand the mantra— you get what you pay for. I still have the same opinions of the hammer loop. I never use it. I never see anyone else consistently use it. I still believe that the left-leg pocket should be slightly deeper, and there should be an identical pocket on the right leg, replacing the hammer loop. Hopefully, I won’t feel the need to come bump these down again to two stars in the future. However, whether I do that or not, I don’t think I will purchase these pants again. In the trades, every dollar you spend replacing/repairing your tools, equipment, and even clothing, is a dollar you don’t get to take home to your family. Next time, I think I will just buy once, and cry once. ... show more

  • not the same pants...
Size: 32W x 32L Color: Bark
Riggs Workwear Carpenter Jeans have been my every day pants for decades — FIVE STARS. The last pair I bought had dropped two belt loops off the back, so anything you carry on your belt slides around to the small of your back instead of staying where you put it behind your hip (and they will bunch up funny if you use a belt to cinch up winter pants in the summer). This purchase has that problem plus — the inseam is smaller, the waist is smaller, the rise is shorter, the zipper is shorter. Not enough to make it seem like an incorrect size label, but like the pattern or the quality control has changed along with some of the detail work. Just enough that they don't really fit well. The most comfortable pants ever may have become barely tolerable. Update: It's not quality control. I've spent the past three months waiting for an exchange or explanation from Wrangler. They too pants back and sent a replacement pair, but no explanation. They measure exactly the same, and are wrong in exactly the same ways. Apparently Wrangler has just decided to make them wrong. Old 32s still fit well but are no longer presentable; new 32s I can't zip or button or bend over. Old 34s fall off my hips, but I'm still deciding whether to spend the time and money to see whether larger pants will work. ... show more

  • Quality materials, but the fit is absolutely terrible for anyone with human proportions.
Size: 36W x 36L Color: Bark
The quality of the construction seems fine, but the design of the fit is absolutely horrible. Previously, I tried a 34x36 (my usual pant size, i'm 6'6" @ 205lbs) and I couldn't even get the waist to close on the pants, but everything else looked like it would have fit correctly. This time I tried ordering the next size up - 36x36. It was like some kind of bad joke pant, the waist fit loose enough I could pull the pants down without unsnapping them, and the legs looked like MC Hammer pants from the 90s... could have fit three of my legs in them. ... show more

  • Won’t hold up during real work
Size: 36W x 30L Color: Vintage Indigo
Let me be clear. I LOVED these jeans. They fit well and seemed very rugged. It’s hard to find a decent pair of jeans that can work as hard as I do out on the farm. I seriously thought these were it. Unfortunately just after a month of owning them, I slipped a little in the mud while setting a fence post and they split right at the crotch. I probably only actually worked in them for 5-10 days and they failed fast. I was extremely disappointed because these were expensive and I really liked them. I thought these would hold up. They were so comfortable I had considered buying a pair to wear as weekend jeans when I’m not doing any sort of real hard work but just normal chores around the yard. If you do light work, these would be great. But if you do any sort of hard labor, go with a different brand. These just won’t hold up. ... show more
