  • Not a replacement for a true articulating keyboard tray
Color: Black
I had to return this. It had promise, but it's not a replacement for a real articulating keyboard tray with full adjustability in angle/tilt. The 15-degree increments are much too large to make this a workable solution for me. Like others, I also found it hard to figure out how to work the legs with the 6 joints. My solution for those interested: I set up a standing-only desk (which is adjustable height) and used a set of rubber doorstops under my keyboard and taped-together composite shims under the mouse to give them an extra boost on the front end; this means they have a negative tilt like I need. The angle/height is adjustable by moving the doorstops forward or back, or using fewer or more shims. It's not perfect, but it's working for now. ... show more

  • So close, yet so far...
Color: Silver
I'm not sure what's more frustrating: a product that is truly bad, or a product that has the potential to be great but instead took some poor design/business decisions that make it merely "meh". The Uncaged Ergonomics WorkEZ Keyboard Tray falls into the latter category. THE GOOD: - One of the very few products that limits its scope to just keyboard & mouse. Most other products include a feature for a monitor or laptop. This has found its niche as a product for those of us who have an existing desk setup with monitors that are adjustable, and we merely want something that allows us to place our keyboard/mouse on a riser so that we can stand. - since it is limited in scope and features, it is therefore reasonable priced. I didn't need nor want to spend over a hundred dollars (or more) on a Varidesk (or one of its clones) - Somewhat decent number of options for adjusting height and keyboard tray incline - Lastly, I think they had a good idea with the separate mouse platform that you can attach to either left or right side, and you can adjust the angle so that it is flat if you decide you place your keyboard on an incline. THE BAD (aka why in the world would you not test this out and/or make these decisions?): - Since the item is very lightweight, there is nothing designed to compensate for the fact that it will move around your desk as if it's on ice skates. This could have so easily been rectified by choosing soft/rubberized plastics where the legs meet the desk. At the very least they should include rubber/vinyl bumpers that you can stick on. That's what I wound up doing and it made the product 100x better. - They advertise the ergonomic option of configuring the keyboard tray so that it can be positioned on an angle. i.e., tilting down and away from you. What they don't show/tell you is that your keyboard will also act as if it is on ice skates, and slide around while you type. Yes the keyboard tray is made of lightweight aluminum and has a textured surface, but it's still slippery as hell. Again I'm not sure why they didn't opt for treating the surface with some type of powdered/rubberized coating, or again include more rubber/vinyl bumpers that you need to apply to the bottom of your keyboard. That's what I did, and again it made the product so much better. - I have several issues with the separate mouse platform attachment. First of all, it's too small. Because the surface of the platform is rather rough you need to use a mouse pad. However it is difficult to find a square mouse pad that is 7in by 7in. Most mouse pads are rectangular, and I'm not exactly sure why they didn't just make the mouse platform the same depth as the keyboard tray. Secondly, I find that the mouse platform is rather wobbly, even when securely attached correctly. I think the product would feel so much more polished and professional if the attachment mechanism was re-designed or if the metal used was thicker so that it didn't bend so easily. In summary, at first I was very disappointed in the product, but after the significant upgrade of applying about a dozen vinyl bumpers ($3 at Home Depot) and cutting a mouse pad down to size, I am now really happy with the purchase. I've been standing at my desk for 2 days straight and there's no looking back! If you're willing to apply some vinyl bumpers and trim down a mouse pad, I think you will come to like this product. Hopefully Uncaged Ergonomics will take my suggestions into consideration when refreshing this product for the next version. Again I really think it has a unique niche and provides a lot of value if only they would tweak a few things here and there. ... show more

  • Leaves much to be desired, but I found a way to manage.
Color: Silver
I needed an elevated keyboard because sitting too long cuts off circulation to my feet causing toe tingle. So with this product, I found I had to do some things. Problem (1) : Mouse pad really flimsy and too small for two mouses. It flexes under pressure. Solution: I did away with it and just set a wooden platform having a larger surface to the right of the keyboard riser. Problem (2) : Things moving about as others have complained: Solution: Some rubber grip shelf liner does the trick when placed under moving parts. Everything stays put with that stuff. Problem (3) : When I get tired of standing and need to sit, it's very troublesome to re-adjust the keyboard riser each time. You change one thing and it seems to alter another thing like angle. Solution: I just left it on a desired high setting and angle, then got an office chair that has a longer cylinder for extra height. The chair goes from 23" off the floor seated to 30" total height. It's easier to get into the chair at the highest point using a shallow step stool. A monitor swing arm is really nice to go with this keyboard riser product. It allows a much greater monitor height for standing along with a two way tilt action. Can also swing it down really low. You can pull it as close as you want right to the edge of your keyboard, tilt it like a table top and look down into the monitor while you stand and type! You can move it aside parallel with another monitor, or just twirl it out of the way completely. The one I have is extremely low priced almost give away for something so strong and sturdy that easily holds a large monitor. Search Amazon for “Mountup single monitor desktop”. ... show more

  • A good stand, instructions are minimal
Color: Silver
The stand works well. The reason I gave it 4 rather than 5 stars overall is that the instructions are sketchy at best. It took me a moment to realize I needed to push a button in each hinge to adjust it. Then setting it up was straightforward. I keep a mouse pad below the elevated mouse pad, and I can slip the keyboard between the legs of the stand, when I want to sit. I raised the monitors on pieces of 2x4, with a cross piece attached, and I can tilt them more for standing and raise them vertically for seated use. The green thing in the photo is a wrist rest; there's plenty of room for that in front of the keyboard. ... show more

  • Right direction, needs a few tweaks
Color: Black
The folding and level of detail to which you can adjust this thing is great. You can get just the right height and angle. And it feels fairly strong with my wrist resting on it as I type. The keyboard tray is amply large, no problem putting a wide keyboard with number pad on it. It is also plenty deep. So I can get to an arrangement that lets me type comfortably. The problems...First the bottom of the legs are super slick. Sitting on my wood-top desk the tray slides all over the place. I am going to have to find something non-skid to keep it in place. Secondly, the mouse tray is too small, it's not smooth, and the way it hangs off the edge means you can't rest your wrist on it very well as you use the mouse. I have to put a mousepad on top that is too large for the metal square in order for the mouse to work. The idea is right but it's the best set-up. Maybe with an immobile, trackball kind of mouse it would be better. ... show more
