  • Easy to use, quick drying, and amazing results
Style: Garage Kit Color: Black Walnut
Product arrived in two days but took me awhile to use because of the weather lately but finally got a nice sunny 75 degree day. I ordered two kits just in case since I have a bigger garage door and I ended up using both kits. Extremely easy to use and they really do give you everything in the kit you need. My bigger garage door I did end up using my own larger roller to speed up the process. Very simple. Clean the doors, prime, and I applied two coats of finisher. The results were definitely worth the work. Took me about four hours time with all steps and this stuff drys quick. Last picture you can see it rained this morning lol held up and beautiful ... show more

  • Great product
Style: Acrylic Topcoat Color: Slate
This kit for the price is well worth it. The directions were clear but the user video was better on how to do it. I showed a friend and he thought I put in slate counter tops. The coverage went further than expected. I can do the rest of counter tops. No odor at all and a little light sanding with 1000 grit between final coats made it smooth as glass. And it dried to the touch fast. Great quality product. ... show more

  • Works well for whatever finish you want
Style: Full Sized Kit Color: White
The media could not be loaded. Edit* I would give it 6 stars if I could. Previously I mentioned that it dries matte, and I'd be worried the white would get really dirty. I was wrong, it actually cleans up really nice with a regular Clorox wipe. It is definatley more matte then shiny, but the surface is much easier to clean then I initially thought. I'm really happy with the product after living with it for a few months. ------------------------- Original review: I absolutely 100% did NOT think that tiny little can of paint would cover the whole fireplace... I was wrong... So very wrong. The paint can is only 16 oz I think. I have what I would consider a "standard" sized fireplace. I HATE red brick. I didn't want any showing through at all. I did the 2:1 ratio and didn't rub any of the paint off. I mixed the 8oz of paint with 4 oz water. I laid the first coat on very thick, and the red brick was still showing through a bit (make sure you catch your paint drips though if laying it on thick). Halfway through I was already planning on putting in another order on Amazon for a second container or paint because I was going through it so quickly. I was able to cover about 80% of the fireplace with the first 2:1 ratio. Once I ran out of the first pour, I realized that the rest of the 8oz would be way more than enough to finish the project. On the second pour I ended up doing 4oz paint 2oz water (half the reccomend amount) because I knew if I made the full 8oz it would have gone to waste. The second pour actually ended up being even a little more than I needed to finish. The second coat of paint went on a lot quicker. I ended up going over every square inch a second time. With the second coat there was no more red brick showing through at all which is exactly the look I wanted. One thing I will say, is that this is definitely more of a stain as opposed to paint. It drys matte on the brick. It's like the brick absorbs the paint into the pores. I personally like the matte look of it. However, I could see this getting absolutely trashed with coals, embers, and dirt from the fireplace. I honestly think if you are looking for pure white it's probably better to get a real primer and just paint it, if it has a bit of lacquer it would be much easier to wipe down. I NEVER use the fireplace, so I'm not worried about to soot or anything. Although I can already see I'm going to really have to keep it clean. I considered buying another paint to create a lacquered finish so it's easier to clean, but I just didn't have the energy. If you USE the fireplace and want it extra white, I would probably steer away from this product and get a shinier finish that is easier to clean/wipe. Overall, I'm impressed with the coverage of the paint and the whole kit in general. Although, I'm worried how to keep it clean. It really does finish nicely. I really like the new look. I still don't understand anyone wanting to wipe off any of the white to see the red peeking through. But I guess to each their own? I'm personally not into it. I would assume if you want more of the brick color showing and you have a "standard" size fireplace you probably wouldnt need all 8oz with a 1:1 ratio the paint goes a VERY long way since it's mixed with water. I still have 6 oz of paint left despite 2 full coats of paint. I bought a gray mantle that I was thinking about painting white, but I ended up not doing that, but I was glad to know if I wanted to, I would have had enough paint to do it Super impressed with the product. ... show more

  • This is a FAUX finish!
Style: Front Door Kit Color: English Oak
Color: I chose the Honey Oak color for my back door since the entryway flooring was honey oak vinyl. I felt the base color was very light and slightly pinkish. The stain color is OK, but I think the contrast between base and stain (I refer to it as stain, but it is really a type of glaze that creates the wood grain look) is too great and a less than perfect application is very noticeable. I wasn't totally pleased with the results, but intrigued enough to try a different color. I chose English Oak this time. The base wasn't that much darker, but it had a warmer tone and the stain was much darker. Door: Essentially, the door I was working with was in pretty sad shape and not worth too much trouble. Layers of paint collected in panels that couldn't be easily sanded had to remain and I couldn't remove the door or knobs in fear that it could not be rehung properly or locks function. Removing the door is not necessary, but definitely remove hardware if possible. Application: I learned alot from my first attempt! 1. Base coat is easy, just straight painting. Directions say to pour half into a tray, but a little goes a long way and I just used it straight out of the can. Less waste/clean-up. 2. Taping for the staining is key. If you have a panel door, you will stain in two directions. Instructions say to tape out horizontal panels, stain/dry and then vertical panels, stain/dry. I felt the inset panels looked messy when the whole panel was done horizontally. I took an extra step to tape out the vertical and horizontal sections of the panel and created the look of a mitred corner(I did this in the window corners also). Even though it's a crappy door, it made a difference. 3. The graining mitt is huge! As a woman I don't have a small hand, but I was swimming in it and it was hard to control. I tucked the thumb to prevent it from creating unwanted strokes in the finish and I only applied stain directly to the end of the mitt (not the whole palm as instructed). The instructions say to dampen the mitt in water and wring out the excess. It was very difficult to wring it enough and the stain got watery and dripped excessively. Learning from this I only lightly damped the one side of the mitt I used. 4. Use quick light strokes. Instructions say 2-3 coats depending on desired effect. I used four. (I might have done 5, but I was low on stain because I had also refinished the beadboard under the back door overhang. Looks great and only used 3 coats) The first couple coats might look a little messy, but as it gets darker with additional coats there is less contrast and it starts to look more natural. It dries fast, but with the extra coat I wanted to be sure the taped corners were dry so I did my vertical and horizontal sections on separate days. All said and done I am fairly pleased with the results, but I also accept it for what it is, FAUX!! I don't feel it would be worthy of my front door, but I am considering the garage door version. The kit is loaded with everything you need. It's too recent to really judge the durability, but seems pretty good so far. ... show more

  • So easy to use. Perfect effect I was looking for.
Style: Quart Color: White
I took this photo with only half the fireplace done so you could see the original color bricks next to the painted ones. I did the 1:1 ratio without wiping because I wanted to cover a lot of the tan color in the bricks. It's very watery and drips quite a bit so it's easier if you don't put tons on your brush. I used a small craft brush for the grout lines and it was significantly faster. Very happy with this product and I was able to make a huge impact on the look of my living room for a very affordable price and just some elbow grease. ... show more
