In the 1970s when I was a teenager, I wore these same shoes except they were canvas back then I loved them. I wore them with my bellbottoms jeans because I was not girl that wore tennis shoes. It just wasn’t something of interest to me so these were a good alternative and they were flat and soft at the time, so this pair is velvet and it’s so much prettier fit very well and I usually have some problems with shoes not being wide enough, but that was not the case with these. The only thing is that I wear a size 7 sandal but I wear an eight shoe and that was the largest shoe they had on , the site he came from easily. The media could not be loaded. I lived in this style of shoe back in the 80s when the lightweight canvas version usually cost about $4, so when I saw these in better material with a thicker sole, it seemed like a good time to reclaim that little part of my younger years. For the price (currently $17) the quality is great. The fabric is a lightweight velvet that feels like it will hold up to a reasonable amount of wear. The soles are as flexible as shown but don't feel at all flimsy. The buckles are the part I worry about most, I suspect that will be the first thing to give but if that happens it won't be the first time I use a decorated safety pin to keep my fabric Mary Janes on. There are only two things I want to point out before you order. First, these do run a bit small. I typically wear a US 7.5 but since that wasn't available I went with the 8. Without socks, they're perfect. With socks, they're bordering on too tight. So if you like to wear socks with this style, you probably want to size up. The other thing is, the soles are very nonslip on hard floors, but surprisingly exactly the opposite of nonslip on carpet. So if you plan to wear these somewhere that's carpeted, roughing up the soles a bit first is a good idea. ... show more

I just got these yesterday, and wore them for a little while, and already I'm loving them. I was a little worried when saw the Chinese writing on box that was banged up enough to convince you they had had a long hard journey. But when I opened the box, I saw that they were in perfect condition. I ordered a 6.5, and they fit me like they should. They are very comfortable without the need to break them in. The velvet has a pretty good pile, so I feel comfortable wearing them with Jumpers, skirts, and dress slacks for dressy occasions. ... show more

these are some of my favorite style of maryjanes and this one has a bit more cushion to the insole and grip to the outer sole, so they're more comfortable (for some) than the lower profile flatter ones. at under $15, they're a great value, too, totally worth more for quality and fit!

These shoes are cute and comfy! Please set expectations, however, because these are not the type of shoe that will hold up to miles of walking at the time.
