I’ve been trying to stabilize one of my fence posts for the last few years and no matter what I tried it wouldn’t hold. I found these and finally the post is stable and sturdy again. I had a single post rot away on my fence, and really didn't feel like disassembling the fence to replace a single post was worth it right now. These repair posts work very well, and are large enough to go deep and tall which actually reinforces the post well. I bought another cheaper product first that was smaller and failed to do the job, so I returned it. Make sure to bring a big hammer to get these in the ground. ... show more

Although not cheap, this is the best product available in my opinion. It is very strong and easy to drive into the ground, offset enough to skirt around the concrete that was used to install the fence, and very stiff to provide a sturdy post when done.

After looking at other solutions, I settled on this design as it appeared to be the most robust. It also looks like it's part of the structure and not so much a repair job. Initially I ordered the Epcee-brand version in Black, but that was the last one in stock at the time and was damaged in transit and never arrived. I then found this one and from all of the photos and measurements appeared to be an exact copy of the Epcee one. This one was delivered successfully, but did poke through the box a bit. Nothing was damaged, and it comes with good quality screws and a drill bit to pre-drill the screw holes as well a driver bit. As you can see, my 10yr old fence was leaning pretty badly after the last storm we has here in NorCal, and after digging out around the posts, I found that 2 of them had completely rotted through and were essentially detached from the ground. I used a post I had laying around to brace the wall to be vertical while the repair was made. These brackets can only accommodate a distance of about 3.5" from the post, and as my concrete footings were wider than that, I added wood shims to allow the bracket to be placed further away from the post. They were pretty easy to drive in using my 4pb sledge, taking some care to drive them as plumb as possible. I painted the shims to protect them from moisture and used longer lag bolts to secure the brackets to my posts. Once the brackets were attached, I set new post concrete around the brackets to strengthen the area further. I think this is actually a crucial step; without the concrete adding additional bracing I think over time the posts would start leaning again as they are just driven into bare dirt otherwise. I repaired 3 posts and used two 50# bags of concrete among them. The result is better and stronger than I expected! The brown brackets also match my existing posts better than the black Epcee version would have as well. The fence feels very sturdy now and I am hopefully it will last another 10 yrs so I can get rid of this money pit and pass it on to the next homeowner! ... show more
