We take our 4 yr. old grandson ice skating. These are a great starter skate. He's even trying twirls! The other little ones who use the rented rink skates have a lot of trouble and get frustrated falling with the single blade skates. I have had several parents stop me to ask where we got these skates. I think they would work for even younger skaters. ... show more

I think these are great to start with for a 5 year old! A little bit sturdier than a single blade and using with sneakers makes life so much easier.
